Missing first letter of each line printing to xerox dc440st

When printing to Xerox dc440st from one of our computers, the first letter of every line is lost. All the other computers print fine. It seems like a settings issue, but so far nothing has solved the problem.

Thanks

If it is only from one PC, then there must be a setting in your printer properties (right click on the printer, left click "Properties"), probably under 'printing preferences', then maybe "paper/quality" and or "finishing" (every printer is slighlty different). check theat the Zoom is set at 100% , and anything else that refers to size is correct....that's my best guess.

Network print centroler fault. does not ping with computer. whar is the solution .

Look in the fault codes, I am guessing you will find a 77-11.
But the most likely cause of that on a DC440 is a bad hard drive.

How to connect the machine to the computer for printing

Be sure that you have network option installed. On top cover of the printer itself (under the scanner) you can see a floppy drive, can you? OK, then it is capable of network printing. Also parallel (Mini-Centronics) port will work.
You may try parallel printing first, it is easier. Download from
www.xerox.com/support drivers for your DC440ST.

Install driver. Connect parallel port to computer via Cenntronics cable and you'll be ready.

If you want to print from network you must have UNIX printing installed in Windows. You have to create a new port in the printer driver and create a print queue and name it "lp". Port address is also needed. For example 192.168.0.1.

To set up network address on the printer you have to log into the printer as administrator.

Press (key) button on the top right part of the keyboard.
On the touch screen enter: #22222 (hash sign and five 5's)
Enter "Networks settings" "TCP/IP" "network address" "STATIC" "192.168.0.!" for example" "SAVE" "QUIT" and the printer will boot.

You may have to ping for the network address to see if it responds. If the copier/printer prints out a config sheet in five minutes you can check the address and other setting you just did.

If the printer DOES NOT PRINT the config sheet it may be disabled in settings. You can log in again (key) #22222 and enable "print config sheet" + reboot again.

Scaner not working

This will require a service call by Xerox.
This maybe broken or worn out gears and even a ciruit board to go out.
Check to see if the parts and labor are included with the call charge.
If it is take the service call and let Xerox repair the machine.

DC440ST Network/Print controller

When it boots to 70 percent and faults out, one of 2 things.
If you look in the fault codes, or if one is displayed. If it is a 07-11 then you have a bad hard drive in the network area, or as Xerox refers to it as the ESS module, That is the most likely cause.
Secondly maybe the ESS software is corrupted and needs to be reloaded.
I more suspect the hard drive. It's not an uncommon failure.
