How do you light your pilot light on an kenmore oven

To light the pilot light on a Kenmore Maxitrol oven, please follow these steps:
  1. Locate the pilot light assembly. It's usually at the bottom of the oven, behind a small metal cover.
  2. Turn the oven control knob to the "off" position.
  3. Remove the metal cover by pulling it out or lifting it up, depending on the model.
  4. Locate the pilot light and the pilot light valve. The valve is usually a small red button located near the pilot light.
  5. Press and hold the pilot light valve in for a few seconds while you use a long match or lighter to light the pilot light.
  6. Once the pilot light is lit, continue holding the pilot light valve in for another 30 seconds.
  7. Release the pilot light valve and make sure the pilot light stays lit. If it doesn't, repeat the process.
  8. Replace the metal cover and turn the oven control knob to the desired temperature setting.
Note: If you're having trouble lighting the pilot light or keeping it lit, it may be best

Pilot light will not ignite water heater

the pilot light serves to purposes. it is the source of ignition for the main burner and is a safety device that detects wether there is a flame or not. if the pilot light stays on when you stop pressing the pilot light button then you need to turn the knob to the on position to light the main burner. the pilot light is not the on position. if the pilot light goes out when you stop pressing the pilot light button then the thermocouple or flame sensor needs replacing. good luck

Need to relight pilot light on MDG6200AWW gas dryer.

That unit has an electronic ignitor. You should not have to lite the pilot. There is no pilot to lite. If the dryer is taking longer then normal to heat. Check your vent to the outside. If the ignitor is not turning on it could be the ignitor, flame sensor and or thermal fuse. Check D.I.Y. Appliance Repair Troubleshooting to see if there is anything that can help you there.

Gas is on pilot won t light

Hello there: The problem you mention is not that clear. The pilot won't light or the pilot lighted but won't stay on is two different problems. If the pilot won't even light or no gas coming out off the pilot when you push down the pilot button it means the pilot orfice is blocked and what it need is cleaning the pilot orfice. If the pilot light is on but goes off when you release the button then the thermopile need to be changed. Hope this can help.

MOD. MDG6200AWW SER.# 31658508YW WILL NOT DRY CLOTHES. TORE DRYER APART AND CLEANED. BURNER COMES ON FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN SHUTS OFF.

Hello, This problem is going to be your safety valve coils...basically they get old and over time of heating then cooling develop a short when they heat up...It may appear the gas lights to start but then goes out until the safety valve coils cool back down. Here is a picture of a set of coils Yours may differ but it's the same concept. You will find them mounted to the saftey valve at the rear of the igniter. 57d5263.jpg This should solve your problem. Hope this helps, Please feel free to comment again if you have any further questions or concerns. Good Luck! Mike
