When I go to the jvc website to set an account to set up outside monitoring and enter the serial number of the camera I get a message that says "invalid serial number" and it will not progress past that point. There is no option to check if I have a problem with the setup. I really want to set up the outside monitoring so that I can check my camera from anywhere on the web. No problems with any other functions of the camera.
2012 camera , handy cam
the SN look up if for warranty only !!!
call them and ask. (
your free manual never uses the words LAN or wifi or remote access at all. so there is none.'
https://amcrest.com/
buy a IP web cam, use it.
and will vastly more clear than any old 2012 cam.,
or ?
lost the manual, and the pages on wifi do no work>
Supports wireless LAN or wired LAN
http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/00/01/53/15368.PDF
first google hit btw.
so if it you can lan/wifi up,
then you you want 12,000 mile away web access?
well you ISP will not allow that.
but we have done that using , not blocked IP ports.
ISP block port 80 or all 1024 (first ones)
so we used 8888 or the like, and it works.
but is only and IP address: port.
if want a domain name (to ip) we use DNS,paid
Your ISP may block more ports, and only testing finds the truth, see page 58 in your free manual yet.
on port 80 issues. my router can mask 80 to be 8888

if you buy a real web cam a.k.a., CCTV
the cam has a cloud account (push mode)
and the cam pushes video files to the cloud for you to see www.
most folks do not know how to do what i just told in brief so they use TURN KEY WEB CAMS
as seen here (best is with NVR to see all cams at once time, like ME.
https://amcrest.com/
Recheck the number again, possibly entering a number for a letter or other common mistake. Have another person read the number. If all else fails contact JVC support.
NO PROBLEM POSTED (use it at IP web cam?()
if you can't get the online SN to work
why not actually call them and ask.{phone em)
we are not them we have no s/n storage for billions of cameras here. (will never happen)
there is only 3 causes of SN failures
1: using the wrong one. a.k.a typo
2: the cam is too old (easy )
3: the s/n look up is only for warranty so if fails means warranted ended 4 years ago.
2012+1 = 2013 ended (oops 5 year late)
but do call them. only but why4:using a country A serial on country B website and SN fails. make makers of products world wide have web sites for each country and regions using the wrong one fails.
if you asked them on the phone they'd of told at that to you. ask em.
OMG they are proof HERE. hard proof of regions specific product and ARE;https://www.jvc.net/
learn to use makers correct web site first.
or call them and ask.
I gave you the manual, to read. 10seconds work
a web cam real is best with cloud service.
HERE ARE ONES THAT WORK. AND ARE NOT EXPENSIVE.
https://amcrest.com/
i HAVE 6 AND THEIR nvr, PURE LOVE,
WORKS WORLD WIDE VIA CLOUD.
the best brands have the best support.
no china direct cams have that.
in macro
set the cam up for IP + port you want
then open that port it YOUR router.
oops-a-daisy the your USO blocks you, P80)
so change port to 8888
open 8888 in your router.
get DNS, and set it to your homes IP:8888
now www works to this DNS named locations world wide. (but gee ISP in some countries block ports like that or whole other countries.
better? is below.
if all that seems hard, we buy Amcrest cams.
I was in S.America one time and they blocked all of Texas. USA.
their excuse I will not tell here, it is too too silly.(they be daft)it will only get worse as fear gets worse.www.
and rotten politics.
best of all if DIY , buy your own domain name.
$15 /year
and set it your IP _port 8888
there are 65000 ports one will work, 2 to the 16th power,= 65535 (0 up) the lower 1024 tend to be blocked.I set them and test them. ask.
