SOURCE: Hayward Self-Priming Pump with AO Smith 1 HP 56J

the pump must not have any air leaks in the suction side of it,, or it will just **** air and not water,,, water is very heavy you see, however i think its the impeller in the pump thats the problem,,,you should try to put water in the out let of the pump so you fill the pump with water first if its dryed out it may just wear out the impeller before it starts to **** water up, if this still dont work turn off the stop **** and strip out the pump to look at the impeller any wear on it and it will need a new one fitted
i hope this has help you, good luck

SOURCE: Need to replace pump Impeller on A.O. Smith

To get to the Impeller you need to remove a series of bolts, or a large clamp, that holds the two halves of the pump together. Once you do that, if their is a diffuser (housing that goes over the impeller), remove it. To remove the impeller, you need to lock the motor shaft. You can do this a couple different ways depending on the motor. There will either be a small cap that grants access to the motor shaft on the back of the motor, or you remove a larger housing that grants access to the wiring and other components in the back of the motor. If it's the small cap, then you can hold the shaft with a wrench. If it's the larger housing, then you can slip a wrench (probably 7/16") under the thermal overload switch and onto the shaft to lock it in place. Now you can unscrew the impeller. Check to see if the impeller has a screw in the center. If so remove this first. It will be reverse thread. The impeller should spin off counter clockwise. If the impeller is very tight, be careful not to damage it. If you don't have an impeller wrench, I strap wrench, or very large locking pliers with a rag around the impeller works well. Hope this helps. If you need further assistance post a reply in the comments, and don't hesitate to leave a good thumb rating if you found this helpful. Thanks, and good Luck!

SOURCE: Leaky 4 HP hot tub pump seal AO SMITH motor, pump

If you have removed the impeller this is what you need.
Part number for your shaft seal is : 37400-0028s
Here is a link to the manual on how to install / remove this seal on this pump:
http://www.hottubs.com/content/pdf/Sta-Rite_Dura-Jet_S377(9-12-03).pdf
Refer to page 9.
This seal can be purchased anywhere on the internet. Just do a google search with only the part number. Many suppliers will come up. If you have trouble, I have a few and can make an E-bay sale for one.

Wiring line side of 230v two speed pool pump. It has line 1-4 which do I use

There should be a schematic on that motor describing how to connect the power. You would definitely want to use 230 volts as this allows the motor to run more efficiently.

A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful to your free Fixya question.

Rcvd new pentair 1 hp pool pump replumbed and did the electrical connection. motor get real hot and shut off. i used the correct 12 ga wires and wire it for 115v. do you think i got a bad pump. it did...

Assuming everything is electrically correct, the motor probably has a short in the winding somewhere. The motor should have a one year warrantee on it. Any pool store ought to be able to trade it out for you.

Oil a ao smith motor

NO Lubrication available!
They have 'Sealed' bearings.
So if the motor is loud, they (bearings) either need to be replaced, or the motor needs replaced.

A.O smith pool pump tripping breaker

It you either have an impeller problem or capacitor problem on the motor. I would take the capacitor off and take it to a electronic or lexical shop to have them check it. It's only about 15 to 20 dollar pics if it's just your capacitor.

A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if answer is helpful for your question. THANK you and GOD BLESS YOU.

I have an AO Smith SQ1102 pool motor that stopped running. it blew the breaker It was very loud, So I know it needs bearings. I have 3 AO Smith above ground pool motors that are more of a round flange...

no. it sounds like its too late for your motor , no need for a pool pump motor repair kit ,there is one on ebay . but it sounds like your motor is toast if it blowing the breaker... hey i could be wrong . look for a shop that has free pool pump motor testing .use your zip code in your search..
as far as using the bearings off them threw bolt motors. do what ya got to do, but you might find that the front bearing is a bigger bearing .. i charge 85.00 to rebuild a 2.. but you must catch them befor its too late 2hp new = big $$$
best of luck .. and if'n i was any help ? push on them thumbs up to vote ... thanks jay..oh PRIME THAT PUMP !
