MIO p550 will not turn on

My MIO P550 will not turn on. I checked the batteries - I have two - both have a voltage one has 3.7v DC and the other 4.15 volts. I am using the original battery of 3.7V.

Any ideas whats wrong?

    Hi All,

The Mio P550 uses a push button to power up or shut down. The unit is fully charged. I have pushed the "on" button and have also tried the hard reset (pushing the on/off button as well as pushing the hard reset simultaneously). It still does not turn on.

    Hi Gery

Thanks for this potential solution. I tried your method several times with no luck in the unit powering on. I appreciate you taking the time to offer a solution.

I guess I will have to send it to the repair depot for this Mio P550 - I imagine that the repair bill will be expensive

it might be a problem on the mainboard of you P550.

what happens when you connect the device to power charge and slide the on/off button from left to right?

Hi
i think you must know the difference between hard and soft reset.

soft reset is the small hole you put the edge of your stylus to reset the device without erasing anything. (software restart)

hard reset (hardware restore) is:

switch the on/off slider button to OFF. keep the joystik pushed UP and without leaving the joystick slide the from OFF to ON and wait about 30 seconds.

do all that while connected to the power charge. I'd prefer you do that with a wall charger, and not with a USB cable connected to your computer (we dont like this charging state from USB ports)

let me know what happened after that. if possible, upload a video showing us what you did.

thanks
Gery

I formatted my p550 and I don't know how to bootup or reinstall the O/S

You'll need to find the firmware (ROM) image file (Google) and then: Connect the mio p550 to PC
1.put the Button of the PDA in ON position
2. hold the joystick downward and press the reset button
3.choose "Image Upgrade tools"
4.choose "0=Image by USB"
5.intall the usb driver (PC require the drivers). The driver in the
folder "USB driver"
6.open the software "dnw5.0e"
7.(if you want to make a test of connection USB, click the" USB
port/Statute". If all is ok go to step 8
8. click "USB port/transmitted" and to show the way of the file
"MioP550 - Osc260A R05_P09.nb0"
9.press the reset button to restart the mio p550.

Good luck!

Have lost manual. I need car charger for Mio P550 but Mio no longer making. Have purchased Scala AC Travel Charger Part No; SEL15305 (Input voltage 100-240VAC, 50/60Hz) and end is right but not sure if it...

The important thing is the ampage. If you have your old car charger check the ampage output. A higher amp rating charger will be ok as the p550 will only draw the current it needs. The voltage you listed sounds like a house charger not a portable car charger. cars run at 12v and the output should be something like 5v dc - 1amp (normally anyway).

I have a Mio P550 Digi walker. How do you open the battery chamber in order to change the battery? Many thanks [email protected]

I removed the rubber infill that covered a hidden screw. Released screw and then removed back plate. Removing the battery then required care as it is stuck with two sided tape to the Mio internals. Here I used a knive to prise/cut free.

Mio P550 reboots but does not take any touchscreen inputs

I had the same and contacted MIO (use the phone number for your country,
http://www.mio-tech.be/EN/support/support-overview.php
). It was related to the shock the screen got and they graciously changed it for me (it was during the second year of the warranty). If the warranty has expired, you are probably looking to about a hundred bucks expense.
Courage,

Mio P550 how do i do a hard reset

on/off switch in "off" position for at least 30 seconds, then turn it in "on " position, power on and "reset". You'll lose all your data and all the installed programs.
Alternative: using the screen options, go to "system info", and choose "hard reset".
Beware: pushing the joystick down while doing a reset will get you a boot menu with memory-formatting options. Choose "exit".
Otherwise look into xdadevelopers forum (Google it or go to, say,
Mio P550 / P350 ROM upload [Archive] - xda-developers
)
A good idea would be to backup your data in the first place- just a hint.
Enjoy.
