Keep running Aprilaire 600 Humidifier just installed when blower stops water keep running G/w wire or common wire wrong not sure. Have a rudd oil heater.

The humidifier should turn on and off with the blower motor of the Furnace. This can be done by wiring the the humidifier to the HUM terminal on the furnace control board and then stepping down the power with a transformer. If the humidifier has it's own tarnsformer then a current sensing relay can be used by attaching it to the blower motors common wire.

Typically when the water continues to run after the blower cycle stops, the solenoid valve is stuck open and will need to be replaced.

Hello,Make sure the heating blower/fan is running when you turn the dial as the humidifier might not have power if there is no heating blower operation.

sounds like you may have it wired to a continuous power source vs one that shuts off with the furnace. The most common wiring is red to C & white to W

Commonly outdoor wood boilers use a hot water coil mounted in the ductwork above your furnace. In this application the Ruud furnace is still using its blower assembly to circulate the warm air from the boiler to your home. If this is the case. Have your heating guy install a #50 relay on the furnaces blower motor to activate your much needed humidifier. If this is not the case and your Ruud furnace is totally independent of the boiler. Still install the #50 relay in the furnace and manualy activate the fan only feature on your thermostat.

This sounds like, the 550 transformer is not connected to the blower motor power connection (in parallel)

If the installer used a #50 relay when they installed it they did not take in consideration the the fan will run at two different speeds in heating. Remove the #50 relay from the blower wire it is connected to. Reinstall it on the blowers white wire (neutral). This should fix the problem.

When your unit is on normal the outside unit works and the inside only the fan runs. your heat pump does not remove any humidity when it operates so the installation cotractor did not wire it to operate then. you can change the wiring on the humidifier to operate all the time by wiring it to the fan (g) terminal then it should work just turn it all the way to the lowest humidity when you are in cooling mode.

It is possible you may have wired it wrong. Make sure your humidifer is not robbing power from your thermostat. This would explain when your humidifer makes a demand to come on it robs power from your t-stat making it lose its call for heat. Wire your humidistat to the "w" terminal and the common terminal so it only runs on a call for heat. With the bypass type of humidifier you purchased it wont do you any good to run when the heat isn't running anyway. If you want an independent operation humidifier you need a steam type.

Make shure the 24 volts is hooked up to power that is only powered up when the blower is running. Some furnaces have a HUM terrminal on control (make shure the HUM is 24 volts some are 120 volts then you must use the transformer supplied with the AP 600). You can use a RP # 50 relay that senses current only when the furnace motor is running on the heating speed. Hope this helps
