My acer aspire E1 531 15.6" laptop -the touchpad cursor is not working...the cursor is frozen wont move..pls help
Hi :)
I'm not familiar with your laptop but I googled it and there are many possible solutions. If you have access to another PC, look at this link and try out the various suggestions:

I followed the advice of pressing the FN and F7 keys at the same time. It didn't work when the program was fully loaded, but I rebooted and tried again during the rebooting and it worked. I had the frozen cursor on the Travel Mate (Acer) also.

First of all, Best Buys should honor at least a 90 day warranty on their work. Did you contact them ?
The cursor problems is caused by heat . If the laptop's fan is operating ok, the unit should never heat up to where it is "very hot". As the laptop heats up, the components will start to be erratic.Something tells me that the fan is not correctly install and is causing the overheating problem. Do not keep using the laptop in this condition, you may have greater damage if the Processor get too hot. Again, I would take back to Best Buy and speak to the Service manager about your problem. Next time you have a problem with the laptop, I advise you to ask you friends and co-workers to see if they use a tech that is knowledgeable efficient and trustworthy. I never have trusted BB!
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Plug in a USB mouse, and go to Contol Panel>system>device manager and click on the +sign next to pointing devices. Right click touchpad and uninstall the touchpad, then reboot the computer, remove the usb mouse. Windows will pick up the touchpad as new hardware and re-install the drivers for it etc..
I hope this helps

Fn F7 probably got pressed (turns on and off the trackpad. probably the dumbest thing to have a hotkey for)

The first step that you should try is to reinstall the touchpad drivers.
Still no good reinstall the OS,
Still no good replace the touchpad.
Thanks
