Device Selection menu stays on constantly and flickers...

I have what I believe to be the 55511. Recently, the Device Selection menu started staying on constantly and flickering between every icon on the selection menu. It happened about 2 months ago and we were able to push the reset button located next to the power button and it worked. However, this time it stays on constantly and never goes off. I have tried reset, I have tried powering down, and I have tried multiple times to do something with the remote but the tv will not respond. It also does not respond to the menu on front of the tv, anyone have any advice on what to do.

Display continueuly changes

Unplug your device for about 30 minutes to let the circuitry reset itself.
If it works normally after that, it means a hardware part(s) is overheating inside, more likely a power supply is starting to fail and does not provide the proper voltages for the microprocessor.

You need to replace one STK393-110 and 2 or more 5amp pico fuses. Very common problem.

How to get laptop connected with vga connector to

Unplug the television. Connect the VGA compatible monitor cable from the laptop's VGA monitor Output to the VGA Input on the back panel of the television. You will need a splitter to connect the audio cable from your laptop to the VGA Audio Input on the television. Never mind if you have speakers connected to your computer.

Press the Device button on the remote control or on the television front panel to display the Device Selection Menu. Select the device you want to view, in this case VGA. The only compatible resolution is 640X480 at a sync rate of 60 Hz.

Do not leave stationary or letter-box images on-screen for extended period of time to avoid uneven picture tube aging.

Tv wont respond because device menu is changing through each device

I had a similar problem: my WS-55511 would not respond to the remote and the front control buttons (with the exception of Power) cycled through the Device Menu. I solved this problem by disconnecting the front panel. Here's how to do it: 0. Unplug the TV
1. Remove the speaker grill from the front by pulling forward: there are no screws. 2. Disconnect the two cables that are exposed after the grill is removed. 3. Plug the TV back in, wait for 5 minutes to reset. 4. Try using the remote.  Hope this helps!
