SOURCE: my samsung remote BN59-00852A just stopped

Try the instructions below. If you need to replace the remote, you can order one from:
http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Search&o=c&uid=0&m=BN59-00852A&uuid=12967730823440

Before replacing the remote, try the following:
How to Re-Start Your "Dead" Remote Control This only takes about a minute and will restart 1 in 3 "Dead" Original Remote Controls. Good Luck!
Step 1- Pull the batteries out of the remote and leave them out until Step 4.
Step 2- Press and release each and every button one at a time on the remote control until every button has been pressed and released at least once!
Step 3- If your remote has slide switches, you must move the switch to each position then repeat the button pushing in Step 2.
(When you're done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the unit the remote came with!)
Step 4- Put the batteries back into the remote, being very careful to install them correctly.
New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones.
Step 5- Try the remote.

Special Note:
If you have a digital camera, camcorder or camera phone you can test the remote to see if it is emitting a signal. Face the remote towards the lens of the digital unit until you can see the front of the remote. Depress any button on the remote. You should see a light (steady, blink or flashing) being emitted from the remote. If you do then the problem might not be the remote but the sensor on the TV unit.

SOURCE: Universal remote for Samsung Hitron

You can find the remote control codes for different brands of devices from
http://www.hifi-remote.com/ofa/codes-tv.shtml#tv

If none of the codes work then we have two other solutions:

1. Searching For Your Code

If you have tried all of the set-up codes for your brand of equipment ,or your brand is not listed, and you are still not able to get the unit to respond, try the following procedure to search for your code.
If you don't find a code that works, the remote will flash four times when you reach the end of all the codes for this device type.

  1. PRESS the button for the device you want to program, (TV, VCR, CABLE, etc.), then RELEASE.
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. ENTER 9-9-1 (two blinks on the remote)
  4. ALTERNATE slowly between the POWER key and the DEVICE (TV, VCR, CABLE, etc.) button until your device turns off. (On VCR, LD, and CD players use PLAY instead of POWER)
Make sure that the remote is pointed at your device during the search, You may have to press this sequences of buttons up to 100 times to search the entire library of codes.
  5. When your device turns OFF, PRESS the SETUP button and RELEASE it to lock in the code for your device.

2. Learn the buttons from the original

Line up your original remote and the head-to-head before completing the following steps.
  1. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice.
  2. PRESS 9 - 7 - 5, the red LED will flash twice.
  3. PRESS the DEVICE key where you wish to learn the function. The next 3 steps must be completed within 10 seconds.
  4. PRESS the button that will receive the learned function, the LED will flash rapidly.
  5. PRESS the button on the original remote to be learned.

Now you can repeat steps 3 through 5 to learn other functions onto other keys or press and hold SETUP until the Cinema's red light flashes twice to lock in your new feature. (If the red light does not blink twice, stop and repeat steps through 6).
To test the new feature, press and release the device key in which the new feature was learned followed by the key on which the feature was learned

SOURCE: i have a brand new

You may need to recode the remote since you changed batteries, and the newly installed batteries are new, and installed correctly.

SOURCE: remote control

I had the same problem.  The problem is strange and seems to be with the receiver in the TV and not the remote control.  The reason I say this is that when this first happened my Samsung brand DVD could actually control the TV.  This then also failed, but still works fine with the DVD player.
Anyway there is an even more bizarre fix to all this......
- Remove the batteries from your TV remote. - Press and hold the red (ON/OFF) button for at least 1 min. - Replace the batteries and hey presto!!
I know seems far fetched but I found it on the Samsung website and it does work.

Hey guys my youview remote has stopped working, the talktalk button keeps flashing blue though

Test if your remote works by viewing it through a digital camera. (A phone camera works well.) View the front of the remote on the camera's digital display while holding down any of the buttons on the remote. If your remote is working you will see an RF light coming from the front of your remote. (You can only see this through the digital camera. The human eye cannot see the RF signal on its own.) If you don't see the RF try changing the batteries with known good batteries and try again. If you see the RF but your remote doesn't seem too work it needs to be reprogrammed.
Here are the steps for programming the remote to work with my Samsung TV and other brands.
1.) Turn the TV on.
2.) On the remote control hold down TV Power+01 at the same time. If the TV turns off the controller is programmed. If not, try TV Power+02, +03, +04, +05, +06, +07, +08, +09. Different TV BRAND??? ...TRY the codes listed for other TV brands located on the last page of this link.

Why won't my samsung smart tv emote wont change chanel

It needs to be Re-Paired to the TV.

First, fresh batteries, and clean battery contacts if needed.

Then, Try Pairing procedure:

  1. TV off
  2. Bring remote within 3 feet of TV
  3. Push Pairing button (Paper Clip or other pointed object in button hole)
  4. Turn on TV
  5. Should be paired. Try remote channel or other buttons.
  6. If not, try 2 more times.
  7. If still not working, push RESET button first and repeat Pairing.

Samsung remotes for LED / LCD TVs are generally RF, not IR.
Most Universal remotes do not generate RF signals, so disregard advice about codes for Universals.

Sounds like problem is with TV. Make sure the remote sensor on the TV is not blocked, it is located at the lower right part of the front of the TV.
