According to the owner's manual the Quincy QR 216 model has an oil capacity of 1qt. BTW, 1qt = 16oz. = 1.42L depending on your current measuring standard.

Compressor shuts down and will not allow enough pressure run machine

Sounds like the oil is low or the cooler is dirty. If that's not the case then you have a defective thermal valve.

What kind of Oil would you use in an Quincy Compressor Model 340???

30W Non-Detergent. You can get it at hardware stores or tool stores. You can go with synthetic if you like, but if you don't run it too hard, regular oil is fine.

When the comp. shuts off the air bleeds back out the intake. what needs done to stop this It is a quincy model 350 2 stage compressor

You have one or more valves broken in the head and need to be replaced, and Quincy compressors require a special tool to remove and install valves.

Compressor has no oil pressure but seems to be running good

If you're sure its not just a bad oil pressure gauge, and there is no pressure, the oil pump is probably bad. If you don't run it hard, it may still last awhile, running more like a "splash lube" compressor. Still, if this is a pressure lubed Quincy, it's a good compressor - I'd fix the oil pump and it'll last for years.
