How to understand a fault of a car

The numbers for the fault, basically tell where to look first. It could a bad sensor, wiring to the sensor or the control module that's bad. If you just need to find out what the number means. Type it in your browser with the make of your car.

Get EGR Ground Faulty error. what does that mean and how can we fix it?

EGR valve......means exhaust gas return valve......groung fault means one or more of the wires that should be grounded to the battery negative terminal or chassis of the car is not making good connection, therefore it's telling you that the ground is not there.....EGR's normally have 4 wires for a standard type...one wire supplies power to the 3 coils and the other 3 wires get grounded through the computer so if yours is computer controlled ground then your fault would be inside the computer......in either case you must trace the circuit to find whats what......good luck....

I have a 2002 X-type Jag. My engine light comes on and I had it check. The code is P1796. Can you tell what this mean?

My records show that P1796 Fault indicates a Kick Down Switch Circuit Malfunction, however there appears to be some discrepency here as other records show it as a CAN bus (off) fault. A quick check to see if your car will go into kickdown should identify which is which. Clear the fault then drive gently for 20-30 miles, if no engine light then use the kickdown and see if it comes on. You can check out other fault codes at http://www.bluejag.co.uk.

Po code 1000 is system readyness test, it means it has not met all condtions or flags since last reset of the computer. and the other C1165-Wheel speed sensor circuit right rear electrical failure and C1235-Wheel speed sensor circuit right rear signal failure
Possible Source(s):
  • Harness fault.
  • Connector loose or corroded.
  • Connector pin(s) bent or tracking between connections.
  • Sensor gap incorrect.
  • Foreign matter on sensor face.
  • Missing tooth on sensor wheel.
  • Faulty Sensor.
  • Most Likey cause the harness got knocked off the sensor. If you need more help let me know.
