I have a Protherm 80e boiler which keeps going to the F1 mode

Hi there my boiler goes to the F1 mode at 8 times a day. We recently had a British gas engineer who fitted a new heat exchanger, new inline dirt collecting filter, new gas valve, new electrodes and thermostat sensor. Within a hour of him leaving the boiler went on to the F1 mode and as continued to do so since. Do you have any suggestions that may help me solve the problem. Thanks, John

Google your boiler it comes up with a manual go to page 26 it gives you 5 reasons why it goes to f1

SOURCE: sime 80E friendly format boiler

Sounds like a control board or wiring to the unit has shorted out.

1/overheat stat2/ fan 3/ diaphrapm valve 4/micro switch check small rubber or nylon hose at fan for pinhole best of luck

Boilers are inherently dangerous for the average DIY for so many reasons, contact British Gas and have them come back and fix it, tell them it was fine before the "service". They may simply have a control valve shut off.

Have protherm 100ec boiler british gas has replaced almost every part boiler will fire temp gauge rises to about 55 flame increase in strenght for about 10sec then boiler cuts out also they keep trying...

Any other symptoms? Is the fault apparent only when drawing hot water? Does the boiler re-light later? Alarm messages? F1? F3 for example?
It may well need a powerflush, but it's best to find out before spending big money with BG.....wish I could get away with charging that much for a flush!!!

Protherm 100EC boiler not firing up

You likely have a flame sensor problem.

If you can wath the ignition proccess, see if you ever notice a flame. If yes, and it then shuts downm, you have a flame sensor failure, replace the sensor and clean the flame burners and orifices.

If no flame at all, then your ignitor is failing, or you are not gatting gas to the ignitor.

doe's your blr have pre heat option if so it would be normal for it to fire up then go off

Potterton Profile 60e doesn't start first time

could be fan speed or air pressure switch-is case seal sealing properly also check grommets under boiler for blowing.
YOU CAN ONLY WORK ON BOILER IF YOU ARE GAS SAFE REGISTERED.

This is the manual for 80E. It isn't a manual for the 80e, it's a manual for the 80E, dunno if they are the same or not.
