Kenmore electric oven will not bake

The bake element
is the heating element that is found at the bottom of the oven. Most electric ovens use both the bake element and the broil element in a bake cycle, with the bake element performing 90% of the heating. If the bake element isn't working, the oven may not heat. To help determine if the bake element is defective you should first do a visual check. If the element is blistered or separated then it should be replaced. If the element appears to look normal, then turn the oven on to a bake function for a minute and then turn it off.

Check the element for signs of heating and if it is still cold then it may be defective. Disconnect the power and then remove the back panel. First check the wires as they may have become loose or corroded. If the element appears to be fine visually, test it for continuity with a multi-meter. If the element is burned or no longer has continuity, it will need to be replaced.

Heating elements in fan oven not working

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
  • Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  • If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  • When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

TOP OVEN WORKS OK BUT BOTTOM OVEN DOES NOT HEAT UP

Hello,

There are a number of reasons why you may find that your oven doesn't heat up, and troubleshooting oven heating elements is not too complicated, so you should be able to manage this in a few hours. When you are trying to decide what is the cause of your oven not heating up properly, you should be able to identify the different problems, and also understand how to repair the oven without too much difficulty. If you find a lot of problems, then you may need to provide a different solution, for example replacing the heating element and fittings completely.
Heating Element is Broken
This is perhaps the most common cause of the oven not heating up. The element inside the oven will not become hot if the electrical connections are damaged, or if the element itself is not working. The heating element can be removed and replaced easily, and this is perhaps a very good idea if you have any problems with the heating system of your oven. Test the heating element by firing up the oven with the door open, and your hand close to the front of the element. You should be able to feel it warming up, so if it doesn't, take of the screws which hold it in place, and then unplug the connections. You can take the heating element to a store and they should be able to replace the part for you.

Hope this help in solving the problem.....

How do you replace the bottom heating element

Turn off power to oven, remove two screws on heating element mount, pull heating element from wall of oven, remove two screws connecting electric leads to heating element.

To install new element, reverse steps. Make sure screws connecting heating element to wires are very tight -- otherwise they will arc.

The oven does'nt seem to be able to heat up above 150, the fan is working, the bottem half of the oven does'nt seem to heating up. Is this fixable or do i need a new oven?

Hi.

If the part that is not heating is only the bottom element, and the top element is heating regularly, then you may need to replace the lower element.
Before replacement the element can be tested removing it from the cavity and reading Ohms at the element terminals, with a multimeter set at Rx1. Disconnect power before removing the element.

If both baking and broiling element do not heath above a certain temperature instead, then the part to be replaced is the temperature probe, still located inside the oven cavity.

Regards.

It would appear that the main oven element is not working. I had a power cut whilst using the oven recently and have only just realised that the oven will not heat up. Everything else is working ok. If it...

If it is a fan forced oven, the element is round in shape and goes around the fan blade on the back wall of oven.
To replace: Turn off power!!
-Remove side racks from oven, then remove rear panel.
-You should now see fan blade and fan element.
-You need to remove oven from cavity, then remove rear outer panel.
-You can now access element- it will be held in place by 2 small nuts either side of element wiring connections. Disconnect element wires, unscrew nuts. Element is now removed!
Reverse procedure to reassemble and test. If oven is heating OK, also check main oven thermostat is regulating temperature (ie clicks on and off), as sometimes thermostat can fail if element has blown
