Also not working here. Frustrating. D:

  • Anonymous May 17, 2009

Please help if someone has the answer. I rather like this printer and would hate to deal with this for any longer.

  • Mike Feb 13, 2012

Same here..."Scan Failed". I simply went to "Windows Scan and Fax" program and my 3250 worked like a champ. Forget trying to use the Kodak Control Panel for anything but copying doc's or photos.

  • Mike Aug 13, 2012

From the OP; techisbest's response was my solution too. Just couldn't print from the printer, did it through Kodak AiO with no trouble.

Here is the solution I found on the Kodak ESP 5 Support Center web page. Hope it helps or else maybe just visit the web page and browse it to see if you can find the solution to your specific problem.

Question : How do I scan from my all-in-one printer using MICROSOFT WINDOWS Imaging Acquisition (WIA) Drivers on a computer running WINDOWS VISTA Operating System? Answer : For computers running WINDOWS VISTA Operating System:

  1. Click Start > Programs/All Programs, and select Windows Photo Gallery.
  2. Click Scan at the bottom of the Windows Photo Gallery window, then click New Scan at the top of the window.
  3. Select KODAK ???? AiO (where ???? is the model number) from the Select Device window, then click OK.
  4. Click Preview and make whatever adjustments needed to achieve the desired scan.
  5. When you have made the desired adjustments, click Scan.
During scanning, the progress is displayed.
When the scan is complete, the file is displayed in the Windows Fax and Scan window, along with a preview of the file.
  6. Click Save as... to save the file, or click the Print icon to print the file from the Windows Fax and Scan application.

While this answer is a possible work-around solution, it does not answer the OP's question. I can scan just fine using the Kodak software (or your solution to use Windows Photo Gallery instead), but what I can't fo (and what the OP asked about) is to scan using the LCD control panel on the printer itself. Print and copying work just fine, but choosing Scan just hangs at "Scanning..." until you shut the printer off. I wish I had the solution to that part.

I had this problem; printer would copy okay but not scan, just start and then stop.

The way I got it working (apart from upgrading all software and drivers) was to connect printer to a USB2 port (I connected directly to the PC rather than a hub). I did have it attached to a USB1 hub and this just didn't seem to work for scanning. Something to try!

  • tjacobs944 Sep 29, 2010

I spent forty five minutes online with Kodak tech support, made about five changes to the computer default settings, then spent a half hour down loading and reinstalling drivers and software. Still wouldn't scan to the computer.

Changed the USB connection from the hub to the computer and it works perfectly.

    Thanks dkharvey312

I had the same problem and found this page (obviously). When none of the suggestions worked for me, I decided to go into the printer and devices screen, right click on my Kodak printer, then go to troubleshoot. The computer fixed the issue for me and it started scanning again. I have win 7 and it's a ESP C310 AIO. :)

I had the same problem using the printer's buttons. I used the Kodak AiO Home Center software that came with the printer without any problems.

Hard to believe Kodak let the printer get out the door like that.

  • AskAnna Jun 28, 2011

I think it may have to do with a conflict in computer add-ons. It sometimes takes up to 5 mins before it finishes processing the scanning and the Save As PDF window then pops up. Temporarily disabling some add-ons may help. Sometimes it also seems to help to restart the printer. It's important that you are connected on the same wireless/internet connection as the printer is set up to. I have 2 routers set up at my home and I always have to remember to switch to the same connection that the printer is set up to to print or scan.

Try a new USB cable. Scanners require bidirectional communication with the computer and thus can fail when printer itself works. (If you use a print server or USB hub, try a direct connection.) Also try changing USB ports.

Another thing to try is to remove the TWAIN driver and reinstall it. This requires the original software CD from Kodak.
1. From your computer desktop, click Start > Run. (In Windows 7, type run in the search box then click on Run.)
2. Type %windir%, then click OK.
3. Double-click twain_32.
4. Right-click Kodak, then select Delete.
5. Insert the KODAK All-in-One Printer Software CD into the appropriate drive, then go to D: > printer > scanner.
NOTE: The CD is indicated by D: above. The CD drive may be a different letter on your computer.
6. Double-click aioscannr.msi, then follow the instructions to remove it.
7. Go to D: > printer > scanner, then double-click aioscannr.msi, and follow the instructions to install the file.
8. Open Home Center Software:
a. Select Scan Documents and Pictures.
b. Scan a document.

Unfortunately, if the error persists, the scanner may need service. Contact Kodak: http://www.kodak.com/go/contact .

I hope this helps.
