The remote uses light to send a signal to the tv. make sure there isn't anything interfering with the light signal. it could be dirty or the receiver could have dirt obstructing the light.

SOURCE: Volume control does not work

I would take your hand remote to a retailer that sells Panasonic and try it on one of their sets to eliminate the remote. If thats ok, then the problem is with the IR receiver in the set.

Normally, universal remote controls buttons might not work properly to what it meant to be. It is a common fault to most of the universal remote controls. Just see, Original is always Original, and Universal is always so. Just try to setup the remote control by using an other setup code for your device. Choose the code, which will give you.
maximum functionality. That is all.

Remote won't work. Tried new batteries, reprogramming, etc. Universal Remote doesn't work either. LG #42PC5DC

Hi,
To confirmed if the remote control is working fine, aim the remote control sensor(IR emitter) directly to your cellphone camera. While pressing any button key on the remote control, you can see the flash of an infrared emitted by the remote control if it is working fine.

If you've confirmed that the remote control emitted an infrared but still the tv won't communicate with it, this is an indication of faulty IR sensor board of the TV. Check if there's an obstruction from the IR receiver in front. Keep away all of it, clean the plastic window of the IR receiver with soft clean cloth.
If the symptoms still persist, you have to replace the IR sensor board. Check the actual part no. of the board before ordering.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

My remote won't set to the tv I tried pressing the set button and it didn't work then I replaced the batteries to see if that would work but it didn't and now I don't know what to do please...

Hello
You might have a cellphone with camera option. Set the cellphone co cemera mode, and place the remote control at about 1 feet away from its camera lens, and press each button on your remote control. Remote control emits infrared rys as we press each button, but can't be detected by human eye. Electronic cameras can detect it. If there is any infrared ray emission from your remote control you will see its image on the camera screen for each button press to your remote control. If there is image and still the Tv doesn't respond to it, The TVs' infrared snsor inside has damaged and should be replaced. If there isn't any image; check the battery contacts of the remote battery compartment first. Clean these contacts by using a piece of corborandum paper or with the tip of a razor blade. Improper battery contacts, due to rust and dust to these contacts will prevent the battery supply voltage to enter into the remote contro.
Still it doesn't work at all, the remote control is damged and should be replaced. Contact the nearest Vizio Authorised Service Cente fro original remote control. OK.

They also sell replacement remotes.

Have you tried new batteries?

The buttons on my remote don't work and every time I press on certain buttons it won't respond right away.

Have you tried replacing the batteries? Do you see any damage on the remote? Have you spilled any liquids on it? If the batteries have been replaced and it does not work, you may want to try reprogramming the remote control. If all that fails it may need replacement.

Dish remote won,t work if Visio E550Vl is in operation.

Hey there! Becki Barned with Dish Network here! The problem that you are having is interference with your tv. You can try to move your receiver away from your tv a little, just a few feet, so that the LCD tv is not affecting the signal from the remote.
