Up until a few months ago my Kenwood 6019 with Garmin KNA-G510 worked great. It found satellites within a few seconds and all was well. Then all of a sudden, it just stopped working. It would search forever, then give me a message saying poor satellite reception. I learned that if I pressed NO to the are you indoors question and NO to the are you in Rhode Island (the state I am in) it would EXPAND satellite searching and then ultimately find satellites. Then the thing works fine. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?!?!?! Is it something I pressed? Can I get this thing to always used the expanded satellite search mode? It's just frustrating I always have to press NO and NO and wait like 5 minutes to get the maps up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! I have the same problem as ski copper with my Kenwood Garmin KNA-G430. Sky view satellite screen shows what appears to be one but may be multiple satellites in one location only (12 o'clock) - signal strength bars will typically show 3 - 5 satellites with good strength but unit cannot get a positional fix. Map screen shows the current location to be in the Atlantic ocean off the west coast of Africa.
I updated to the latest firmware and my unit is working perfectly now. I'd suggest going to 3.60 if you haven't already. You can download the software here.. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/store/downloadsUpdates.jsp?product=010-00495-00

Hi. As long as you get the right maps for it, the GPS unit should function about anywhere in the world. As for the video function, yes, it will work just fine.
I hope you have a safe tour, and come home as good as the GPS that shows you around.

I have not tried to press "no" then "no" but i did find a small cut in the antena wire, I was going to replace it and see if it could find the sats fast like it used to.
