My camera lense won't go in. Everytime I switch it

Your batteries are too low.
When you switch on the camera, the lense go in. Then lense comes out fully. Then, if the batteries are low, lense goes in and camera turns off.
But if the batteries are too low, camera turns off before the lense retracts or even before the lense comes out fully.

I have a sony DSC-W170. It was dropped and now

I had exactly the same problem with my Sony Cyber_Shot. Here is what I did and the problem was fixed. I cleaned around the lense. While I turned the camera off, I pressed down the lense very softly (some up and down motion). After a couple of times, the lense retracted almost completely. Then I pressed a little harder until the lense retracted 100% as normal times. I turned it on everything was back to normal. If the lense does not have mechanical problem, you should be able to do what I did.
If there is no mechanical problem, most likly some dirt got on the sides of the lense while it was open. Try keep it very clean always.

Good luck;

Hello I have a canon IXUS 960 IS. Yesterday when I was using the camera it only closed half way when powering the camera off. Now the camera doesn't open fully and when pusing the "play" button the power...

If the outside of the lense get dirty, those small particles may prevent the lense from opening and closing 100% as nomal times. I had the same problem with my Sony. Here is what I did.

1- I cleaned the outside(sides not the lense itself) of the lense.
2- While turning the camera off, I press on the lense (up and down motion) NOT too hard for a few times untill it either retracted all the way inn or most of the way in. If most of the way in, press the lense a little harder untill it retracts 100%. If you turn it back on, it should work as normal unless some mechanical part of the lense is broken or dislocated. When it fully opens, clean up the outside of the lense and keep it always clean for normal operation.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!

Lens will not retract on Sanyo VPC-T850, 8.1 megapixel, digital

Did you drop your camera? If yes you either damaged the lense mechanical parts. If some dust or small particle are on the side of the lense, it may prevent the lense from opening up. If the lense opens up and down a little bite try to pull it out by have very softely. If it opened fully, clean up the outside of the lense and turn your camera a few times. If it does not have a mechanical problem, it should be back to normal. If above did not help, the lense has to be taken out and inspect for broken or damaged parts and clean it and put it back on the camera.

Good Luck!!!!

Sony cybershot 7.2 went to shut off camera and lense is still out no power to camera tried to recharge batt. w/no results

Try different batteries. I got the same problem with my cyber-shot. The battery was too low while lense was fully open. I recharged, but the lense would not close. When I turn it on, It would say turn off and on again. I did that for at least 20 times. I finally put another set of batteries and while I turned off the camera, I pressed the lense in very softly. After a couple of times the lense retracted fully. The camera has been working normally ever since.

It is also possible some dirt some how got on the sides of your lense. Try cleaning the sides of the lense.

If you had no luck so far, then your lense may have some mechanical problem. The lense need to be opened and cleaned and put back together.
good luck

How to fix a popped off lens

Try turning the camera on and off a few times. If it did not go in while turning it off gentely push the lense in. You might have to try this a few times. If the lense retracts, but not all the way in, push the lense a litte harder in. When the lense is 100% retracted, turn the camera back on, the lense should pop off. Your lense is probaly dirty. Need to clean it and keep it clean always.

Good luck

Sony cyber shot dsc-n2

There could be two things causing this problem.

1- some dirt somehow got on the outside of side of the lense. So the lense could not fully retract or open out. As a result you can take any picture. If the lense comes out even a little bit, try to pull it out NOT too hard a few times. If it does not retract, turn the camera off and push the lense in (up and down) NOT too hard foe a few times. If the camera opened up 100% or retracted 100%, your camera should be back to normal.

2- If you dropped the camera, some mechanical part of the lense is broken or dislocated or the cable may have come loose. In this case you need to take out the lense from the camera and inpect it for broken pieces or loose cable. clean the outside of the lense and push the lense in and out a few times. Put the lense back on and your camera would be back to normal.

Good luck!!!!!!

In camera or video mode it says turn the power off and on again

The problem is
1- some dirt somehow got on the outside of the lense. After it was retracted fully in, it prevents the camera from opening again. When you turn it on, if it opens a little bit, try to pull it out NOT too hard and let go a few times. If it opened, clear the outside of the lense. Your camera should be back to normal.
If the lense does not retract, but goes up and down when you turn it on or off, Clean the sides of the lense and while turning the camera off push the lense in NOT too hard for a few times. If it retrected 100% or most of the way inn, push the in a little harder untill it is 100% retracted in. Now your camera should be back to normal. 2- If you droped the camera, you probably damaged or dislocated a mechanical part of the lense. You may have to take out the lense by unscrewing it and inspect it for damaged parts or disconnected cable. Make sure clean the lense and test it by moving it in and out a few times, before puting it back on the camera.

Good luck!!!!!!!
