Digital Rebel XT blinking "busy". Cannot reset!

When I turn on the camera, it keeps saying busy. I tried turning on and off. When I try to look at the menu none of the buttons will work. How do I reset it?

This sounds like the screw that always comes out in these has shorted out the flash circuit to the main body ground and shorted out two or three circuit boards.

In the communications option of the camera Menu, there are two options to choose from. Try changing the options. one of them works with Canon software to download images.

SOURCE: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT will not connect to computer.

Please discard that the USB port or the USB cable are defective. You can do it if you try to hook your camera in other personal computer using the same USB cable. If it works, then follow the next instructions.

Connect your camera to the PC thru the USB cable and turn it on.

If you are using Windows, go to the Control panel - System - Hardware - Devices - and check if there is any device that was not recognized by Windows. Such devices are marked with a yellow question mark.

If so, get into the device item and with right mouse click, select to update the device driver.

If there was not unrecognized device, then you can unistall your USB port driver and then run a change hardware status to recognize the USB port again, then run the update driver routine.

Regards,

Try the camera after each step and look for any difference,
First reset the camera to the factory default settings.
Format the memory card in the camera(use the cameras format function).
Try another memory card.
The next step would be to upgrade the firmware.

Hope these fix the problem.

MY CANON EOS REBEL XT KEEPS SAYING ITS " BUSY" AFTER I TAKE A picture. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN & HOW DO I STOP IT?

it means your buffer is busy. the speed of your sd card determines how fast it writes the image to your card. "busy" means that it is writing the image info to your card. give it a second, and it clears itself. it's a normal process.

Busy is on my screen and camera has froze

The easiest solution, and it worked for me the one time it happened was to remove the battery, let it sit. Reinstall the battery after a few minutes and try it again. make sure the battery is fresh.
