Usually it's the electrical wire in the back that touched the metal part of the stove and made a short. Check the back of your stove and you'll see a black mark by the electrical wires. To correct that, unplug your stove and cover the wire connector as well as the uncover part of the wires with electrical tape, that would resolve your problem.

That noise is the ignitor firing, you will need it replaced.

Loud pop and light behind stove. Stove top works, oven does not.

Good Morning Stephanie - Typically you may locate the model and serial number in the storage drawer, on the right side. Based on the symptoms you are describing, you may either have a communication error from the main control board or a faulty bake and/or broiler element. If resetting the unit did not solved the issue, at this point I would personally contact a professional to accurately diagnose the range to determine the root cause to reduce the risk of unnecessary parts.

Stove top and oven doesn't work.

If it is an electric stove it may have tripped one side of the 230 line. Check the house cuircuit breaker panel and find the stove circuit breaker. It will be tied together by a bar or clip. Shut off both breakers completly and reset them back completely. If it is a power problem this should reset the stove.

Frigidaire gallery stove, oven not working,

Morison,
The same thing happened to me about a week ago. I was preheating our electric oven, heard a very loud bang/pop. Checked and the oven had PF (power failure) I went downstairs and the breaker was tripped. Came back upstairs and to look at stove, the burners are working fine so I continued to preheat oven after a half an hour the oven was only slightly warm. Did you ever find out what was wrong?

Yesterday while using the stove top to cook some chili the lights under the microwave blew out with a loud "pop". It tripped the breaker switch so I reset it and everything works like it should except the...

Well I'm reaching here---if the bulb did not fracture/break then it sounds like a capacitor popped--check your owners manual for reset button but I don't think there is one for the lighting---In addition if you can see the circuit board--look for burn spot or wet spot. GL

Stove control panel not working

You do not have a fuse or overload button on a Maytag cook-top. If you heard a pop, it was the touch pad on your control board blowing out.

Bake or broil does not work

if an element itself had shorted it would not stop the other from working and you could inspect each element and see blistering as evidence.the pop you heard has to be in common with both elements but not the cook top[burners]so thats going to be the wiring in the back of range, or switching,[thermostat, clock timer or oven selector switch, depends on which model you have]you will have to pull range and remove back pannels.you will find an obivous burn't connection.too repair all new connections must be clean and tight,or will burn again.
