Can a 2010 macbook be upgraded?

Yes! You can upgrade the hard drive to an SSD, and max out the RAM. Do a little googling with your exact model info to learn how much RAM it can handle. That is about all you can do though. I upgraded my '09 and it's faster than when I bought it, and rivals some of today's laptops.

How do I add macbook air memory

Macbook Air has a different memory set up. The memory is soldered on to the logic board when the unit is built. As far as I know there are no direct memory upgrades developed yet for the MacBook Air.
About your only option is to replace the logic board with one with 8 GB

It is more of a question than a problem. I have a MacBook Air and I want to purchase a Transcend microchip for it to help expand Gb, is that possible ?

Ram in the MacBook Air is soldered on the motherboard and must be selected at the time of original purpose. It is not user upgradeable.

Not enough ram in MacBook Air

Unfortunately there are no easy ways to upgrade the amount of ram in your MacBook Air. When buying computers such as laptops and desktops it is recommended to have at least 4Gb of ram for general use, and 8Gb for CAD and photo/video editing.

I am running OS X 10.4.11 and would like to upgrade my operating system?

Please provide more information.
To what would you like to upgrade it?

Since OSX Mavericks was just announced, I'm going to assume that's what you're wanting to upgrade to.

Not all Macs can run Mavericks.

Mavericks Capable Macs

Mavericks, like its predecessor Mountain Lion, requires one of the following Macs with at least 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of available hard drive space:
  • iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
  • MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
  • MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
  • MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
  • Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
  • Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
  • Xserve (Early 2009)

If your Mac isn't one of the ones listed above, you won't be able to upgrade.

If you have an iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, or Mac mini model that was originally released in Early/Mid 2006, the latest version of Mac OS X your system supports is Snow Leopard.

Macbook pro lock up

Not usually, It depends how much other stuff you are running. You may need a RAM upgrade. Next time it locks up hit "Apple, option, esc" will bring up a task manager, you can close the programs not responding from here. Try closing all programs and then trying your office APPS. If still no good you WILL need a RAM upgrade.
