SOURCE: Dell Poweredge 2650 - How do I disable RAC

If this is a security concern then there is nothing to be concerned about so long as you do not plug a network cable into the RAC.

Otherwise, if it is an add-in card just remove it.

If you can't remove it there should be a way of accessing it when the server starts up. You should be able to go into the configuration and disable its functions.

I hope this helps.

How to remove remote access controller from my Dell poweredge 1950?

The DRAC (Dell Remote Access Controller) is like a little mini-PC inside the server; as long as a power cable is plugged in the DRAC is on (if chosen to enable/install it).
A VM cannot turn on the DRAC, and the DRAC doesn't kick you out, except maybe if you're at the keyboard, as the DRAC shows you what's on the monitor and keyboard, so what you see/do at the keyboard is also exactly visible on the DRAC's console redirect option. If you suspect someone else may be getting into your system via the DRAC, unplug the DRAC port from your network.
Good luck

How can I find the Windows Server 2008 driver files for the Adaptec CERC SATA1.5/6ch?

OK, EZPZ.
These drivers will install when you first start installing windows 2008 server. You'll see a option that says: Hit F4 for any further drivers needed for windows to install. I think it's F4. You can place these drivers on a thumb drive OR a CD - you must extract the files on to a thumb drive. At the very start of the windows install you'll see the option for additional drivers.

First screen - Success
24930663-deewisxuy4wetc5wzbekciyz-2-1.png
SCSI - Yes, that is correct. Correct, but This isn't a SCSI controller

If you choose the SCSI driver from Dell, on the disk, you won't get...
24930663-deewisxuy4wetc5wzbekciyz-2-6.jpg
This screen. This screen means that windows could not find any driver for your drive and there for, you must start over - Same steps.
But make sure you choose the correct driver - you might have to try a few that are in the list.

Greatest of luck - EZPZ

Floppy disket failure

shibukpza,

If your floppy disk has failed you can contact the Dell Spare Parts Department at 1-877-717-3355bsat4ube4gblqiaaaaasuvork5cyii= to purchase one. You can also click the link below. If you do not use the floppy disk you can boot into the system bios by pressing the F2 key at boot up. Once in the bios you can disable the floppy controller.

Dell PowerEdge R710 Installation error I have the same problem while installing Windows Server 2003 installation process reach to the step asking press F8, when pressing F8 it says no Hard Drive were...

ok you will need to get the windows 2003 drivers for your raid controller and put them on a floppy disk. when you first boot off the cd you will see a prompt to press f6 if you need to install any additional drivers. insert the floppy disk and select which driver you wish to load.
you should be able to see the hard drives now to partition/format.

Boot from non Dell raid controller

Check the Boot Sequence again -- if there are any "SCSI" devices listed, enable them, and make your CD-ROM the "primary" boot-device (so that you can install Windows) and make this "SCSI" device the SECONDARY boot-device, and disable the internal hard-drive, so that it won't be used as a boot-device.

Does Dell PowerEdge 4600 Server support DVD ROM

I am working on one of these now and yes, it should boot from DVDROM. Be aware that it is a notebook style drive and there are no onboard IDE or SATA controllers, so once the drive dies you're in for a wallet hit. Same goes for the floppy drive which is integrated with the DVDROM. Even worse, the presence of the broken floppy usually means a USB floppy drive won't help when loading windows drivers at install time.

Setup can not find any hard disk while installing win 2003

During setup you must specify any raid drivers that are required. Have the raid controller driver on floppy and insert when prompted.

Problem with creating array

The Perc RAID controller in a 2600 doesn't support RAID 4.
You can do RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 5.

With 3 HDD's your best bet would be a RAID 5.

Mirroring is RAID 1 (which would only use 2 of the drives)
