My daughter's disney dvd player wont play disney dvd's any ideas?

  • m_c_parnaby Feb 26, 2009

Thanks for this, but we've already tried cleaning the discs and laser head, thats what the manufacturer recommended - it will play anyother dvd just not disney ones, I think it may play some of the older disney's but not the ones with fastplay.

I believe it could be that you are running your DVD player into the VCR then to the TV?? DIsney (and some other DVDs) are "smart" DVDs and won't play correctly if the player detects the VCR. It thinks you are trying to pirate/copy the DVD. I had to buy a special device from Radio Shack that let me run the DVD player through the VCR and still play DVDs; costs about $15. (Our TV wasn't stereo if you can believe it so we were running it through the VCR to enable stereo, or something like that, per my husband.) Just a guess!

I would suspect dirt, either on the disc itself or in the player. The discs and laser head need to be clean to do their job properly. If they are too dirty to operate correctly the machine simply gives up trying as though there were no disc loaded at all.

Did you call (800) 723-4763? If there is some compatibility problem between the new discs and the players they certainly should have some information on it.

DVD-R wont play :(

Break out the manual for the camera, there is probably a "finish" or finalize procedure that needs to be run before the disk can be read by anything else. Let us know if you have any other questions and please don't forget to rate this post.
