Yes, they can be recovered with photo recovery software provided not overwritten, here are some programs you may rely on. Both programs can also recover videos and music.

Photo Recovery (for Windows)
Mac Photo Recovery (for Mac OS X)

Note: Before your photos are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the camera memory card in case the original files(your photos) are overwritten.

In your case, you've better directly restore these deleted photos back from this memory card.
What you should do is really simple:
Step1. Stop using this camera memory card in case that any new file would rewrite your original data.
Step2. Insert this camera memory card to your computer.
Step3. Download a photo recovery freeware to your computer and start to retrieve all your lost data back:
http://micro-sd-card-recover.blogspot.com/2013/11/recover-photos-from-Micro-sd-card.html
In fact, this freeware has ever successfully saved all the inaccessible data of my friend off from his camera memory card. So, I believe it can also work successfully on your card, too.
Read more information of this freeware here:
http://www.4cardrecovery.com/
Step4. Save and back up all the restored data on a different memory card or drive in case of data recovery failure.

It is definitely that you can recover deleted photos from Canon PowerShot memory card as long as you do not use the memory card to take any new files after deleting the photos. To check if you can recover deleted photos from Canon PowerShot internal memory, you can connect your camera directly to the comupter, if the internal memory card can mount as a removable disk in computer, then you can use photo recovery software to scan the internal memory drive for deleted photos.

Hetman Photo Recovery will help you in just a few steps to recover deleted photos. Using the preview feature, you can find and select only the necessary frames and is guaranteed to recover deleted photos.
With the Hetman Photo Recovery can recover RAW files used in modern digital cameras. Photo recovery software will retain the original names, folder structure and all the information you need for working with RAW files.

You can retrieve deleted pictures from a memory card with recovery software. you can find a variety of reliable software on "download.com" by simply searching for recovery software. however i know that this camera does not have internal memory. it even comes with a 16mb SD card when you first buy the camera. And it does not have the capability to recover deleted pictures from the menu list. i sold this camera and am very familiar with it.

I accidently delete two photos off my memory card on a Canon A550 camera. How do I get them back?

Yes, it's possible. A good digital camera photo recovery software can be used to recover deleted photos, or lost photo after accident memory card format. I'd recommend asoftech photo recovery as it helped me many times. download from

For the Canon PowerShot A550, card is locked

Pop the card out of the camera- there's a tiny switch on the card that locks it so you can't write over important photos.  Move the switch to the other position and you should be good.

How do I recover images that I accidently deleted?

Yes, with a good image recovery software like asoftech photo recovery, it will be an easy job to recover deleted images from camera's memory card. follow the instructions here

Photo's taken, not on memory card

Take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. Here's some freeware photo recovery software that should be what you're looking for:

http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/recovering-those-accidentally-lost.html

You will need to use a flash card reader with this software. If you don't have one, get one, they're cheap:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_st?keywords=card+reader&rs=172282&page=1&rh=n%3A172282%2Ck%3Acard+reader&sort=price

The reason this occurred is that you likely never formatted the card in your camera. The card will work fine in the beginning but eventually will corrupt. AFTER you've recovered the photos, format the card in your camera to prevent this from happening again (press function, select tools menu, select item stating your card's memory capacity, then follow the prompts for low-level format). Keep in mind formatting will also totally erase your card, so again only do this AFTER you've recovered the photos.
