My remote was working fine until i moved. I have Direct Tv and the remote from Direct Tv works on guide. I bought a new remote from Magnavox but it doesn't work my tv. what should I try? '

The manual should tell you how to cycle threw the numbers for the setup until 1 code works everything. Some codes may work a few things but it may work sooner or later when the right code is entered. Make sure the remote isn't before the TV in age even though some TV's keep the same codes sometimes they change them I have seen that happen from time to time.

unfortunately some of the controls do not work on the directv remote for your tv. You can reprogram the dtv to your tv using different codes or you can try the buttons on the tv. Look for the menu button and find out which up and down button and enter button works

Turned power saving feature on the TV to low and moved the receiver about four feet away from the TV and the remotes work fine now.

Great News!! We can program most Philips Universal Remotes with Automatic Code Searh. Here's how it works on most of our remotes.

Programming with Code Search

1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled.

2. Press and hold Code Search button until the red indicator stays on. Release the Code Search button.

3. Press and release the desired mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blink, then stays lit.

4. Press the Channel Up button repeatedly (up to 300 times) until the device could be controlled changes channel. The red indicator blinks, then stays lit. If you accidentally overshoot the code required, press the Channel Down button to backtrack through the library until the device changes channel. Pressing Channel Up changes direction to forward again. Press and release the Mute button to install the code.

The above assumes that you want to store the VCR you want under the VCR but, Cable codes under the CBL, etc

Note: if the device does not have a chat channel at a button, you should Play (VCR only) or Power instead.

The code for a Magnavox Converter *Analog to Digital* to a Philips Universal Remote is 0759

With nearly all brands of universal remote control, there is usually more than one code for Philips. Keep going through the codes until you find one that works correctly.

So if you know that the 1st code doesn't work, then don't save it, and move to the next.

You may find that several codes will actually put the TV into standby, but other functions will be different.

Simply enter 00000 for the zip code and complete the set up process; if you're in Canada, select the USA as your country and use the zip. However, you MUST complete the set up, including allowing the TV to search for appropriate code. In the long scheme of things, location and codes don't really matter because you won't see the GUIDE again.
