I recently upgraded a Fujitsu Scenic PC from XP to Vista Business. All is well apart from printing. I cannot install the Vista drivers for my Epson Sylus Photo R240. Reading several blogs it appears the XP to Vista upgrade corrupts the XP drivers or looses the location of the XP drivers but them will not allow the new ones to be installed. The symptoms are that if I try and Add a Printer I get a nessage saying the spooler is not running. If I start the spooler and try and add i get another error. Everything I have tried has failed so far. Any ideas?
I keep getting the spooler needs to be reset error and or reset the computer and every way I have tried to instal this printer to vista it wont work even with the vista instal download file how do I fix this or do I have to get a different printer?I keep getting the spooler needs to be reset error and or reset the computer and every way I have tried to instal this printer to vista it wont work even with the vista instal download file how do I fix this or do I have to get a different printer?

If you are upgrading XP to Vista, make sure you backup and have the program "Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor"
Download Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=42B5AC83-C24F-4863-A389-3FFC194924F8&displaylang=en
Be Sure to Backup with a removable media such as CD's, Floppy Disks or USB Flash Drives, External Hard Drivers.
Windows Vista Editions:
Windows Vista Home Basic Windows Vista Home Premium Windows Vista Business Windows Vista Ultimate Windows Vista Starter Windows Vista Enterprise
These also include 64-bit.
Lastly, if you have XP and if it's Vista Capable, you don't need to use the upgrade advisor, you are allowed to use any, but you must download the drivers after upgrade.
you can upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista(ultimate, premium, home, business.......), you have to buy a Windows Vista CD and install a fresh copy or format.
Some Minimum Requirements:
i) Min 2GB RAM or atleast 1GB RAM(if you have>1GB RAM installation of Windows Vista will not continue)
II) External Graphic Card. for some versions of Windows Vista(to run Aero Interface, special feature only in some versions of Windows Vista)
NOTE:
"Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor" is a software from Microsoft which you can download from internet, this can help you determine which features and edition of Windows Vista will run on your computer.
i.e., when u load this software on windows xp it will suggest which upgrade version of windows vista will suit your system(based on you system configuration. or hardware components.) and then you can install the upgraded version of windows xp(mostly windows vista home,.........)
Vista is a horrible operating system. It has many bugs and does not support older systems, cameras, scanners, printers, etc. You are much better off staying with XP. Believe me, I have many users with tons of Vista problems.
You can upgrade from your current edition of Microsoft Windows XP or
Windows 2000 to a corresponding or better edition of Windows Vista by
purchasing and installing an upgrade copy of Windows Vista. While selecting the edition of Windows Vista that's right for you, it's
important to clearly understand what hardware your PC will need to
ensure the features you want will run reliably.
