Open the scanner lid and clean the narrow glass in the left-hand part of the scanning area. Look for remains from ink or corrector at the far end and wipe them out. The narrow glass should be entirely clear to make good copies from the feeder.
Please make sure the scanner flatbed is clean.
You can also try to copy and see if it happens on copying.
If it does, then your printer needs servicing.

Sounds like the issue is with the scanner bulb. May not be moving across or warming up to full capacity.
Make sure the scanner is plugged in directly to the wall and not into a surge protector or a power strip. If problem is still there and you are in warranty you will need to replace the unit. Try a sky scan (No paper on glass and lid up) watch the scanner to see if it is smooth or a somepoint jumpy.
