Can a DVD player/recorder be connected to a computer monitor

I'm trying to connect a DVD player/recorder to a VGA monitor. I purchased a converter said to do just this. All connections have been made as directed and rechecked. I get a prompt saying video connection out of range. What am I doing wrong?

SOURCE: JVC GR-D275 not seen as connected to computer

Many Camcorder users have faced problems while connecting their camcorder to their PC. One of the most common problems is ?no activity? after connecting the camcorder to the PC. The found new hardware wizard does not run and fails to detect the camcorder. This can mean two things. Either the DV port on the Camcorder is not working or the FireWire cable is faulty. Try using a different FireWire cable. If the camera is still not detected by the PC, try connecting it to a different PC. If the Camcorder is still not detected, then your camcorders DV port is most likely at fault. Confirming that the FireWire Port on you PC is working fine You can check the status of the FireWire port from under Device Manager. To access the Device Manager, Right Click on My Computer and then click on Properties. Select the Hardware tab and click on Device Manager. If you cannot see the FireWire port in the list, then it is not inserted properly into the motherboard. If you see a Yellow exclamation mark, then you need to install the drivers, which are usually bundled with a Floppy or CD with the FireWire card.

SOURCE: Connecting DVD player to Viewsonic TV

You will use component video cables.  They come in threes and all they require you to do is connect the DVD output with the TV input and match the cable colors on both ends.  They will be red, white, and yellow.  The yellow is the video, and red and white are left and right audio.  If your TV is too old to have stereo audio, only one (red or white) audio cable needs to be connected.  It doesn't matter which.  The yellow cable always needs to be connected.

Another option, but a slightly less common one, is to use a single AV cable to connect the two.  The reason this is less common is because most newer TV's do not have AV input, and newer DVD players do not have AV output.  If it does, however, this is the most simple, and you probably wish to take advantage of it, so you have a connection available when you purchase a newer unit which does not have AV.

I am considering purchasing a Funai Full HD UpConvert DVD Recorder/VCR Combo. I have a HD Phillips TV with HDMI connections. I do not have cable - just use over the air TV. How do I connect the Fun

Purchase a DVD recorder/player that has a HDMI cable connection and use the connections on the TV so you'll get a hi def picture. RF will NOT give you a Hi Definition picture even if it's up converted.

Infocus lp425z projector pushes latop display to left quarter of output image

Usually this is a hardware acceleration setting problem on the 'advanced' properties setting in your 'screen resolution' properties on your computer. Re-set the hardware acceleration to the 2nd setting and this should fix your issue. We have this regularly when we project on a double projector system and the one projector keeps shifting everything left until we adjust the hardware acceleration settings on the computer. No more issue.

I recently purchased a GADMEI external TV card. i used a VGA cable to get it run on my monitor. The problem is, i have a DVD player connected and when i turn it on, the screen goes black and says "out of...

It is saying out of range because the video resolution is too high for the monitor to display. What kind of DVD player you are using and how it it connected to the monitor?<br /> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'"><a href="http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums">http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums</a></span><br /> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'"><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague</a></span><br />

Can i connect a dvid cable from the monitor to my flat screen tv hdmi to watch videos from my computer? Thank you Martin

the Flat Screen TV if has, a HDMI input, also has VGA Input.

You must choose :HDMI or VGA, if HDMI The VGA board must Have HDMI Connector, and you connect a HDMI cable to the TV.

The HDMI is a digital signal input/output, VGA is Analog Signal. You must have Signal Converter if you Use the 2 signals

Can i connect a dvd player to a dell e173fpf monitor with a scart to vga adaptor/cable?

You can with an RCA to VGA converter device (Amazon has it for $45 S&H), the AV cables of your DVD player and a pair of amplified speakers. Connect the yellow RCA video cable to this device then your monitor's VGA cable to the device. Also plug in the red & white RCA audio cable to both the device and to your DVD player. Finally connect your speakers to the DVD player ad your'e all set!

Bose 3-2-1 - trouble connecting to Samsung 26" LCD monitor

Sounds like you might be out of luck with the older 3-2-1 system. I am in the same boat, and am thinking I will only be able to utilize the "audio out" on the back of my Samsung LCD, and run that to the "aux in" on the Bose 3-2-1. This of course will not allow me to utilize the 3-2-1's DVD player, but by using a seperate DVD player, such as a Blu-Ray hooked to the LDC TV, the video will make it to the screen, and then the audio should make it through the Bose 3-2-1 speakers. Probably not the "best" solution, but one that I am going to attempt.
