HITATCHI ULTRAVISION P50S601...POWER LIGHT BLINKING...WONT COME O

I was watching tv and the tv shut off. it wont come back on. the power light is blinking but wont come on. i have unplugged it and powered it off. i do not know what to do that will get it to come back on. it will try to come on for second and the screen is fuzzy. My wife was watching TV and all of the sudden the screen went blank and the blue light on the lower right hand corner flashed 3 times, stopped, and flashed 3 more times, then kept repeating this over and over. I turned off the TV's power button, then back on and it was red. Turned on the TV via the remote, it gave a strange blur, then started blinking again. I turned off the power, unplugged the TV, and waited. Plugged it back in, turned on the power, and the same problem again, a blur, then the blue light flashed 3 times, paused, then kept repeating itself. Still no picture. I will try calling Hitachi tomorrow. I am very disappointed. I have had this TV for under a year.

The TV is on protect mode.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

it depends on how many times its flashing. These sets are known for two capsitors in the power supply to go bad and in turn it normally fries some driver chips on one of the sdr boards or both. there is a nice write up telling you how to repair these onhttp://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/h...

Same problem here, tv is just over a year old. Started with a sound problem; the sound would fluctuate beyond comprehension, emmet a loud squeel every now and then and finally it just shut down and will not turn back on. This occured over the course of about 3 months. Anyone have a good solution?

Wont come on at all no blue light

If there is no blue light and no sound, then power is not making it into the unit. Is there a red light when it is plugged in? Many of these plasmas have a primary power switch located underneath or on the back. Make sure that is turned on. If you receive power, there should be an indicator light showing power is present. If it is just dead, as if unplugged, then either the main switch is off or failed, or the power supply may need service.

Hitachi tv turns on then gets bad picture than turns off blue light blinking

The name of the part is probably "buffer board" and there are two in your TV - upper buffer and lower buffer, also called SDR-U and SDR-L boards.

Those are the two most common sources of problems in P50S601 along with the Y sustain board (SD board in hitachi and Panasonic terminology), which sometimes gets damaged by the failed buffer board.

In the buffer boards market there are all kinds of offerrings. There are old buffers for around $130 for the pair and there are new buffers in the range $160-$200 for the pair.

In my opinion if the difference is barely $30-$40 one is better off going for the brand new ones.

Here's a link to our title for them, you can sure find others if you start from it:

Tv turns on for a few seconds then shuts off and the blue power light blinks.

Mine never turned on but the blue power light would blink.I disconnected the upper y buffer and got light on the bottom half of screen and the blinking stopped.I have the upper board on order and I think this will fix my problem. There is a blink code somewhere, just count how many blinks.Start pulling connectors from power supply and when it quits blinking you've found the one, could also be the power supply with bad cap.

My hitachi ultravision p50s601 tv. when turn on stays on for about five seconds, then automatically turns off, sending the standby light on bottom right of tv blinking. this continues to blink without...

It seems that your unit has some sort of  PSU fault, or a problem that is shutting down the Power Supply Unit, PSU. This happens so that no further damage, and possible fire will occur.

Remember there are lethal Voltages inside TV's, and generally these days don't contain any "User Serviceable parts" like in the "Old" days, instead Board Replacement is all that is generally done.

You need to take the unit to a reputable service centre/man and ask for a firm "Quote" for the work to be done.

Hitachi Plasma P50S601 no picture sound OK

probably needs new scan drive board along with upper and lower buffer boards. it wont be cheap and its best to have a tv shop do it.

Blue light blinking-

I would say you are lucky to get a pretty fair price, sounds like a convergence problem- if the tv is a projection wide screen. worth the investment Julio [email protected]

Hitachi 55VG825 rear proj television blinking light and screen doesn't light up

Refer to owners manual ! Blinking indicates the type of fault that is occuring on all your tv sets. example : power light on red - indicator light beside it green but blinks rapidly for half a second rapidly then shuts off. This refers to a faulty lamp or a lamp that is near its expiration. Read your manuals if indicators refer to easy repair sweet, but if it says call tech then bummer...
