The pump motor tripped the circuit breaker while on a timer. I re-set the circuit breaker and turned the pump on. It hummed but would not start. I took the pool pump motor to a local pool store and they bench tested it. They said it worked fine. I brought it home, hooked it up and it ran for 24 hours. I turned the pump off and cleaned the filter. When I turned it back on it agin it hummed but did not start up. What do you think the problem is?

This usually indicates the pump is seized or has an obstruction in the impeller. The humming sound is from the electric motor, if left on it will trip the circuit breaker
It is one of two things 1) your motor has died, or 2) It is not getting electricity. If you can verify proper voltage at the motor and it is not humming or trying to turn on that would be a motor issue. Absence of electricity could mean a bad wire, bad switch, thrown GFCI, (ground fault circuit interrupter), bad contacts on timer, tripped breaker, bad breaker etc...need more info.
Water sprayed on the pump occasionallyshouldn't hurt it but it might cause a ground fault circuit interupter (GFCI) to trip. If you turn on the pump and literally nothing happens then most likely the the GFCI has tripped. If it hums then this is a different issue. If you have a volt meter you can open the timer box and check whether power is available to the timer. If no power is available in the timer then it confirms that the pump is probably ok. Checking your circuit breaker panel for a tripped breaker or finding a tripped GFCI then either one can be reset and your pump will probably run without a problem.
try running up this motor when its not installed on the compressor,, if it still blows the trips the motor is faulty,, if it runs ok, but hums when reconted to the compressor the compressor if far to tight for the motor to turn the compressor,,,you can not reset the points in a breaker trip they trip at a set curent if the motor is pulling more amps than the trip is set for it will trip the trip to turn off the curent, the motor will pull far more amps than it should if its over loaded thats why its humming its trying to spin up it but cant so it just keeps pulling more and more amps till the trip cuts out
Sounds like its frozen and causing a very heavy load on your circuit. If the motor gets hot within seconds, its shot and needs replacing. Have you attempted to turn the motor over by hand ?
If it hums, and there is no water moving then you could have a bad starting capacitor, but if the motor is old, and has been running louder than usual in the recent months then it could be that the motor needs to be replaced.
Its time to call the repairman. If its the motor humming its either bad or the dryer is froze up and unable to turn causing the motor to hum. Eventually it will trip the breaker.
