My bulb went out on my infocus sp-4805. I bought a new bulb, and replaced it, and it worked...for five minutes. the picture went out, and it was overheated. I took some parts off, and sprayed can air in it to blow dust out. it gives me a picture, but gets really hot still, and is making a whining noise in the general area of the fan. any thoughts>?

The fan is probably on it's way out and cannot produce enough air flow to cool the lamp. Replace the fan with the same ratings as the original and it should work fine. The only other thing would be a problem with the power supply not supplying enough power to the fan, but, a bad fan is more likely.

How do i find out if i need a new lamp for my infocus 4805. when i turn it on the fan blows for a cpl secs and the green light blinks a few times, but i dont get anything saying the lampis out

when you power it on, do you hear a high-pitched whir? if not, you need to replace the colorwheel. it's also the colorwheel if you hear a buzzing instead. if the colorwheel does not spin, the lamp won't come on. if the colorwheel is ok, check the lamp. is the screen on the side of the lamp clogged with dust? is the inside of the lamp bulging, spotted, or foggy? if so, replace the lamp and clean out your projector with canned air. dust blocks air flow and keeps in the heat. this shortens the life of your lamp and projector. if you do need the colorwheel replaced, you could get the part from an infocus service center and do it yourself, or send it in for repair. either way, try av solutions in ny. they're really good. www.avsolutionsny.com

Dark side of screen

the light tunnel has collapsed and needs replacing. the part is inexpensive and relatively easy to replace. if you can get the part from infocus or an authorized service center (part # 306-0095-01), remove the top (4 brass screws and 4 silver screws on the bottom, 2-3 silver screws on the back), next to the lens is the colorwheel. remove the 2 black screws on the colorwheel base, 2 black screws on the metal tunnel frame side, remove the tunnel glass. replace, and reverse the instructions to put it back together.

Light went out

then it may not be the lamp, but make sure you have the right one (sp-lamp-021). also check to see if the colorwheel is moving. turn the projector on and listen for a high-pitched whir. if you don't hear one, the colorwheel needs replacing. and the lamp won't light without the colorwheel spinning.

Infocus 4805 Lamp will not ignite after new bulb and reset.

it there is no high-pitched squeal when it starts up, the colorwheel needs replacing. the lamp won't light without it. the part is under $50, but installation is quite involved.

No pwer to Infocus sp 4805

My 4805 made a loud pop noise and smoke and died.

I thought it the bulb and wasted $340 on that purchase.

They are subject to overheating and the main circuit board may be fried.
It cost me $50 for a tech to confirm my suspicons of the same.

Look at the main circuit board and you might idenify a scorched
overheated area.. My shop told me you can purchase a new main
board.. Diagnosed by no power to the bulb...
