Crcked screen When I tried to use my yoga today my mouse started sticking and the screen started behaving oddly independently. I have had problems similar to this in the past, but when I tried to reboot I noticed the screen was actually cracked. For a couple of hours I could not even get out of the lock screen as both mouse and touch were unresponsive. I know for a fact that the unit has not been dropped or bumped. The only thing I can think of is that the temperature was very low yesterday which may have caused the screen to be brittle when closed - is this something that anyone else has experienced? I am thinking about contacting supplier for a replacement as figure it might be a flawed unit. All suggestions gratefully received.

I agree with your thinking Claire.
Only I would contact Lenovo.

I don't see any Service Bulletins out yet. On the internet or Lenovo Support. Of course it is pretty new though.

The 'low temperature'.
It needs to be within the usual normal operating temperature -> Kapish? (Lenovo)

What is considered good for a human being. I believe 65 degrees Fahrenheit is the low. (18.3 Celsuis)

You are having a problem with intermittent component failure. The problem might be a bad capacitor. you need to check the capacitors in the power supply and around the voltage regulators. You should also reapply the thermal paste to the cpu. You should also check the cpu socket for dust and dirt. Take the cpu out of the socket and make sure it has not become contaminated with dust or themal paste. When you use a notebook for hours at a time all the components will need to check and serviced, every few months. This will keep the notebook is good working order. Remember you are stress testing the components when using it for hours at a time. This is because the notebook due to size and build will have a lot more trouble than a desktop, with heat issues and dirt and dust.Keeping the notebook cool and clean wiil assure you of good perfprmance. If this type of servicing seems over your head you can call Lenovo at this telephone number.

Give them the model number of your notebook and ask them where the nearest service center to you is located. I hope this information helps you solve your problem with intermittent shutdown of your notebook computer. Thank you for using FixYa and have a nice Day

When I plug in an external mouse, it won't click.

If an external mouse does not work correctly, you may need to install device drivers for it. Windows does not support all 'mice' just by plugging them in. Download and install the drivers for the mouse from the manufacturers web site. Do NOT do a factory recovery for a device driver problem.

My yoga teacher told me to buy a Sticky mat. What is that?

A sticky mat is just a type of yoga mat that sticks easily to the floor so that you get good traction while you do your yoga. It's particularly useful for Power Yoga as that's a type of yoga that involves a lot of movement.

You will need to replace the keyboard, but since there is a mouse problem also, I recommend the laptop be checked for motherboard damage by a computer repair shop. What ever moisture got in will need to be cleaned up.

Mouse

  1. Try another mouse - see if this is something about your Harma.
  2. If other mouse is behaving the same, and the problem with laptop, try working without any other USB devices - there may be a hardware conflict.
