We turned off/unplugged our freezer overnight to defrost. Today we pugged it in, then turned on the power switch. A loud buzzer alarm went off immediately. We have done this defrost several times in the past and never heard this alrm before. The shelf coils begin to cool, but the buzzer will not turn off.. There is nothing in the manual about this buzzer. Will it turn off after the freezer reaches its low temp. is something else wrong? is there a off/reset button for the buzzer? Thank you Nick

sounds like you may have a refridgerant blockage in the system. it may need a regas to see if it can be unblocked, as this is not a quick job it may cost you but phone around on the cost/feasibility of it. it may be just as well to get a new or second hand freezer.

The model number would help but it sounds like a sealed system leak or restriction. If thats the case I would not suggest trying this yourself. The water should freeze overnight and the frost should keep going to all the shelfs that have coils in them.

you have a refrigeration issue partner let her go 16 yrs. is good service you can replace it for 3 to 5 hundred the repair will be that IF you can find someone with the r-12. don't go for a top it off and go deal the food you lose is to expensive for that to be economical.

The alarm is there for a reason. I wouldn't disconnect it. Maybe the compressor is low on gas. If your thermostat is on extremely low, try moving it up to a less cold position. Look in your owner's manual for recommended settings.
Failing that, get ready to shell out some bucks to the service man!
