Yes, more than likely. You need to clean your heads and all rollers along the tape path.

More likely a damaged tape got inserted, if the video heads get blocked or even partly blocked every tape after will do this, heads can be cleaned manually (careful if not sure how to do it) or a cleaning tape MAY clear this up or not.

See my previous answer for this--most likely a blocked or bad video head in the unit (dirty or blocked is most common)

Possible that the remote is faulty , sometimes the carbon tracks would have worn off, you will need a repair kit to write the tracks. Also to check the remote IC for all functions from the inputs.

For sharp TV-VCR Combo with universal remore control,

1/ Start by pressing SET & TV at the same time, the LED goes solid RED

2/ Press 009 or whatever code works for your TV.

3/ Confirm that you can now use your control to flip channels..

Then,
4/ Just press the blue button 2-/12. That allows you to change from cable to air and vis-versa. Hope that helps.

have you tried the following >
1)Get a head cleaner for the Vhs and run it
2) the next tim e you put in a casette it should adjust the tracking automatically you will see it on the screen as it is adjusting.

on some models the menu button is on the front disguised as the volume up/down or channel up/down buttons. you have to push both up/down buttons on either one of these to bring up the menu.
