Pump works fine. The motor is mounted so it moves.
this allows the tension on the belt to vary. Is that correct?Pump works fine. The motor is mounted so it moves.

Yes, it washes the clothes fine. How do you tighten the belt?
The motor moves in the slots where they are mounted and that
tightens the belt but I can't get it the stay.
Thank you so much. I really don't want to have a service call

Is the transmission on the Maytag PAV2300 easily repaired? I'm having the same problem. My washer drains, but will not spin. Tub can be manually turned, but not with ease. It really sounds like the belt. You say it's in good shape but if it's loose or shiny from not having proper tension it wont have enough friction between the belt and pulley to actually work. If you've ever tried to move the drum when its full of clothes and water you know how much force id needed to function. Double check that belt tension and working surface.
Might just be a belt which is real easy to replace, no tools needed:
Take that belt off there and check the stiffness of the pump. These will lock up or get stiff without even leaking. If that pump seems fine check to see if the main drive pulley is properly releasing the tub in the direction of spin. Their are 2 marks on the pulley, the drum should release in between the two points. if not then the thrust bearing kit needs to be replaced.
the belt may be old and stretched/slipping...if it is stretched and slipping it will cause the squealing .............otherwise, check the pulley for the belt/motor to see if it is okay and the motor itself copuld be worn out if the belt looks ok............be careful, you can get zapped if you touch a wire and also if the motor is burned up it can cause a fire so watch carefully and you should be able to see which of these possibilities are the problem..............
RITS REAL COMMON WITH THAT MODEL FOR THE BEARING TO LOCK UP. TURN THE TUB BY HAND A LITTLE THEN TRY SPIN, IF IT THEN RUNS YOU NEED A BEARING/SEAL KIT.GOOD LUCK
I think you have guessed it right. There is probably something stuck between the tubs. I have seen this caused by a lot of things. You should look for things as small as coins, shirt buttons, cufflinks etc., Also I advice you not to turn on the machine until the blockage is removed.
Check the belt, the pump, and the thrust washer. The thrust washer wears down and won't release the tub. All these symptoms are easily repaired with minimal tools.
there are several drive belts for this model... check here to see if the one you are fitting is the correct one... also,is the tensioner siezed? causing the tension to be too slack therefore allowing the belt to shred at speed?
fault may be tacho on motor fallen off or round magnet that turns inside the tacho coil has become unscrewed. remove motor and check tacho. it is located at opposite end to the belt pulley
