The only thing i know that the power supply shows 300w max. computer is about 3 years old & will no longer turn on. there is no noise to indicate that it is working or getting power

These use a standard Power Supply that you can get from almost any computer shop

Better to get one slight higher rated so maybe a 350 or 400w PSU

you can replace these yourself as the connections are pretty easy to follow and only four screws around the supply hold it in

It is a common e-machine issu so long as it has not taken out anything on the motherboard you should be fine.
I have seen the emachines pwer supply take out the main board on occasion although it is quite rare

Will not pwer up. Greenlight blinking on back

The green blinking light can mean there is a problem with the power supply.

Try unplugging the computer from the wall, and turning on the pc on switch.

After a few minutes, try plugging it back in.

If that does not start things up, you may have a bad power supply.

If the power supply is bad, these models take standard power supplies. You should get an ATX 350Watt or higher power supply.

They are easy to replace, unplug the power from the wall, disconnect all the cables inside the computer. Unscrew the four phillips screws outside the back of the computer where the power supply is attached to the case.

Remove and replace.

If you don't feel comfortable with this, a good local computer shop can help you out.

Gateway 838gm no video

Are any fans running? If not take the power supply to a reputable computer repair person. They can test it while you wait. If the power supply is good or the fans are working then I would remove that new RAM. My guess is the power supply is bad.

Good luck
