Microsoft wireless notebook optical mouse 1023 - not working!

My microsoft wireless notebook optical mouse 1023 will not work. The red light under the mouse will not come on, while the green one on the receiver will. I changed the batteries multiple times and each time it still did not work. I installed new intellipoint driver software and restarted my computer and it says it's all connected... Except it's not working. Please help.

If you know that the battery is good then try this next. There is a VERY tiny shark-fin shaped spring-loaded button on the bottom of the mouse that is pressed in, when you insert the receiver, while the mouse is not in use, that turns off the mouse to save the batteries. If you haven't used the mouse in a while, it can get stuck in the in position, so that when you pull out the receiver, it doesn't spring out and turn the mouse on (indicated by the red light on the bottom). If you notice that the light isn't coming on. Just try manually pushing in the little shark-fin thing a couple times to make it spring back out. After a couple times, you should be able to get it unstuck and the red light should come on.

I had the same problem. Then I noticed I had put the battery in backwards. Check that. If it lights up, then you have to press the green light on the receiver (it will flash). Then press the connect button on the bottom of the mouse (they will sync up).

Red light always on

The red light will go off when you unplug the receiver from the USB and place it back at the bottom of the mouse, otherwise when you turn off computer, put a piece of adhesive tape to hold down the small button that protrudes where the receiver is placed in the mouse. Good luck!!! Chawah.

Mouse optico doesnt work

dear,

The small notch in usb device socket under the mouse was malfunctioning. If you press this notch you will find the mouse red light blink. If you further try pressing this notch at some point the mouse red light comes on constantly. Thats it, hold it there and try to connect first by pressing the usb device connect switch and then the mouse connect switch. The moment the connection is made the usb device stops blinking and the red light on the mouse starts blinking. Wow, it works now. Some one might just open the mouse and fix this microswtich for a permanent solution.

regards,

hope it will fix your problem

Microsoft Mouse Wireless Model 1023/1024 won't work

try using an eraser on the contacts if you can reach them. Sounds like dirt/corrosion build-up.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse Not Connecting

After reading on Microsoft about replacing the batteries, down loading drivers and "press the button on the receiver and the connect button the receiver" - I got frustrated and almost gave it flight. Then my wife stepped in and realized that there was a green reset button on the USB connector as well. (who knew?) SO.... you press the green light (which is a button) and release it.... should blink. Then go to THE MOUSE portion and press the connect button for 5 seconds or so.... and wala...... One mouse that plays again! This ones gonna cost me! :) I hope this one works for ya!

MICROSOFT WIRELESS MOUSE NOT WORKING LIGHTS ON CURSOR NOT RESPONDING

I have the same problem with the 1023 MS wireless mouse. I called MS and they said that for a charge of $120 (the price of 1 yr service for my computer) they can fix the problem. I think it's cheaper to buy another (but different mfg) mouse. My computer operates quite well and don't believe I need this service.
Thanx...CPT
