Toshiba Satellite P105-S6197 on the screen there have been appearing some vertical lines and now there are 12 in total. What can I do to stop this? Am I going to loose my laptop? Can the screen be replace??? I have had the same problem with my P105-S6197 Toshiba Satellite Laptop Display (vertical colored lines on the right hand side of the screen first just a few now 16 in total covering the right 1/3 of the display screen. I called Toshiba support, they basically told me my Laptop was out of warranty and I would have to buy a new screen... This does not sound like a "Disk" would fix my problem .... does someone know more??? Scotty Allen [email protected]

There isn't some magic disk that will fix all of your problems...sorry.

Yes, you'll have to replace the lcd in order to get the laptop in 100% working condition.

The problem will get progressively worse the more you use it.

You can find a replacement screen on ebay for around $120 and install it yourself. Takes about 10 minutes to do and it's relatively easy.

Yup, you can replace the lcd..you can take the model number of the lcd and replace with same model and it will work fine.

Sounds like a bad screen. The easiest way to verify that would be to attach this to an external monitor (at work, a friend's ... if you ain't got one) - if the external monitor apprears good then you've pretty much iso'd the problem to your laptop's screen. This model uses a 17" widescreen. Best place to buy 'em would be on eBay, and they'll usually run around $90 to $100 if you need one right away - half that amount if you've got time and patience :-)

How do I make the sound work on my Toshiba P105-S6197? It's not on mute, the drivers are updated, it says the sound card is working properly. It works under my husband's username, but not mine.

Model is Satellite P105 S6024, serial # 86019106W About one inch from right-hand side of screen, a 'white line' (in appearance) has appeared. It is about one inch in width, and goes from top to bottom of...

When you get vertical lines from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen, it means you have bad LCD panel, you need the new one. It will get worst with more lines as time goes by.

I have vertical lines (15 of them now) on my Toshiba laptop.

I'm afraid when you see vertical line on an lcd panel, it most likely is screen failure. Ebay has plenty of screen from good companies in Texas. I get most of my screens from Ebay store LCDTECH99. They have the best prices, most screens are under 100 bucks and they ship right away. The Toshiba screen is an easy repair, Only the bezel needs to be removed in most cases. Below is a guide to show the process.

there is already a problem with the video card.. for most laptop, they have built in video cards.. so you need to have your laptop checked by a computer technician.. or it would be best to bring it to the manufacturer, so they can install the right drivers for the video card after being fixed..
