Can you convert a 220 dryer element to a 120 ellement

Have purchased a stack spacemaker GE washer & dryer, it is a used one but in very good shape. The problem is we want to put it in an RV which is only 110 electric. Can we change this dryer to a 120 heating element? Right now everything is working but the dryer won't heat.

You do need the model number to order parts...typically on a stacked unit the model number is inside the dryer door

I bought a used stacked washer /dryer. I hooked it up likea standard 220 dryer. Has the standard dryer plug in. Would not run start or hum in 20 mode. Checked the wiring. looks like it was wired for 110,...

All standard dryer motors run on 120V. Its the heater that uses 240. Its possible to wire a dryer for 120V operation and it will appear to run ok but it won't heat efficiently and it will take several cycles to get the clothes dry. Sounds like you have a mechanical problem with the motor.

Are the Kenmore stacked washer/dryer run on 120 or 220?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Models will be manufactured for each. Check the plates on the back; I'm sure it will be marked there, or in your booklet (?).

Cheers,

Dryer runs but does not heat

If the dryer is electric, you most likely have one of two issues going on...

1. An electric dryer uses 240VAC to operate. That's actually two 120 volt circuits wired into the dryer. One circuit runs the drum motor and controls while the other is dedicated to running the heating element. Check both legs of this circuit for blown fuses, etc.

2. The heating element may be worn out. You can check continuity of the element to see if it has an open circuit inside.

If the dryer is gas, there are a number of possibilities... post again if that's the case.

Good luck.

Does the Maytag LSE7806ACE require a 220 plug?

If you hook it up to 120 volts (by connecting L2[red] to common [white] the dryer will operate, but your heating element will only produce 25% of the heat it would on a 220v circuit. The drying time would be about 3 hours, and the auto dry setting may not work. Heat difference is about 5000 watts of heat on 220v, vs 1250 watts on 120v circuit.
