E450dn prints fine from tray 1, though it makes a loud clacking noise. I've had no luck from Lexmark support. They're replacing entirely those printers still under warranty experiencing this problem. Still, I'd like to get a resolution. I have plenty of these printers in my footprint and have seen the problem more than once. It's not the rough cotton paper setting, that I checked.
If your getting this noise on every print job the fuser is usually the cause if they have been running on a bit hot they will get flat spots on the pressure roller and it will create a loud kind of clunking sound real common on lexmark lasers. it can also be an envelope setting on some lexmark lasers they have a solonoid for envelope feeding if the envelope inhancment is ingaged in the menu thiscan also cause such a noise

does it make the same noise when you print from another tray or with with a new cartridge.
If Lexmark is replacing those printers means there must be some manufacturing defect with them or broken gears.
