Cyber-shot cameras nowadays have a built-in rechargeable battery for retaining time, date, and other settings. Since the built-in rechargeable battery is not removable, current Cyber-shot camera models can only be returned to the original factory settings by pressing a small RESET button on the camera or by using an Initialize option in the menu.
Older-model Cyber-shot cameras (prior to the year 2000) do not have a built-in rechargeable battery and do not have a RESET button or Initialize option in the menu. These cameras require a manual power reset.
IMPORTANT: To determine whether or not your camera has a RESET button or Initialize option, or for other model-specific information to complete any of the steps in this solution, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product.
Follow the appropriate procedure below for your camera. Using an Initialize option in the menu Since Cyber-shot cameras have different menu system layouts, refer to the instruction manual specific for your camera model.
Using a RESET button: Locate the RESET button on the camera. Use a pointed object (like a ballpoint pen) to press and hold the RESET button for 2-3 seconds. After 2-3 seconds has elapsed, release the RESET button.
Performing a manual power reset: Turn off the camera. Remove the battery pack. Remove the button-sized lithium battery. Allow the camera to remain without power for 30 seconds. Reinsert the button-sized lithium battery. Reinsert the battery pack. Turn on the camera.
If your camera is experiencing an issue and the issue is not resolved by performing the appropriate reset procedure above, then service may be required.
Hi bklynzrealis, Seems that you battery needs charging, if you already did recharge the battery then the battery needs replacing if the red light blinks after charging. I hope this help. have a nice day, mvincnetc
The same thing happened with my dsc-w220. while i was on chat to get help i tried inserting and removing the usb connector cable to the camera. i did it a 5 or 6 times. it works now.
Your problem may be due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera
which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the
camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with
a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush,
steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen
into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of
the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears
the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, the
camera may require professional repair.
1. Remove the battery and reinsert it after 30 seconds.
2. Try resetting the Camera. To reset, refer supplied Manual.
3. If stil not resolved, please get the device serviced.
take the battery out and let the camera sit for an hour or two, take out the memory card, try to view photos on computer, if it does not work, you will have to format the card and start over. Some times when the format on the card is bad, the camera will not work properly. I have two cybershots myself.
the insides didnt get ruined, its just that they got filled with water thats normal..wait until 2 days after this happened, and then it should be working properly if this doesnt work, then you have to pay money to get it fixed
