When I plug in TV, screen flashes for split second, goes dark, clicks two seconds later. another two seconds screen flashes again. Red light stays on, won't turn on, no buttons work.

I have the same problem. Factory reset did not help (hold Vol-minus on set and menu on remote five seconds, then unplug). Can there be something in service mode that would help?

Read the section about the red/green lights in front. It sounds like the lamp went out. Mine consistently goes out once every year to year and a half. If you plan on keeping the television, purchase two bulbs, so you have one on hand in case your new one goes out.

i think your capacitor is blown, do a google search for insignia, lcd, capacitor...
you can buy another one for about $2 but its a pain to install, you can also instead buy a new powerboard for about $80, its an east install and you wont blow more capacitors
