I have a canon DR-9080c that gives me a message PAFCV2.DLL load error when I attempt to save a scanned image to PDF format using
CapturePerfect v. 2.311. Of note, Perhaps the PACFV2.DLL is missing? Does anyone know what is the purpose of PACFV2.DLL? Is it specifically related to PDF files? Has anyone else solved this problem? I noticed one other person had posted a similar problem several years ago but I could find no posted solution.
I have resolved this in the past and a new user just brought it up again.
The pafcv2.dll in Captureperfect 2 does not seem to work. If you install CapturePerfect 3 and copy the pafcv2.dll into captureperfect (c:\program files\canon electronics\captureperfect2 or whatever install path you used), you will find that you can now scan into PDF, even in batches!
This is caused by Canon USA sloppy testing and packaging of the software. For those of you downloaded from the Canon USA site, you get errors because those files were missing at the source. If you download from the European site : http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0000665.asp, you will get a working verion. If there is a repository, I would upload those working files to it. Now, the SCSI Canon 2080C and Capture Perfect 2.312 are working perfectly on my newly installed Windows 7.
Just a few notes for people seeing different types of errors. 1. After you've updated Capture Perfect and you no longer see the scanner, you should check in your windows\twain_32\Canon Electronics\ directory if the DR2080C.DS file is newer than 12/2004. If not, you need to run the 2080DRIT software and reboot. 2. If have a adaptec SCSI card and thinking about migrating to Windows 7, be afraid not. Adaptec has the drivers on their site. Don't just search google, you will get a lot of junks. Go to adaptec.com directly then search for your card series. 3. Check out "SU2000" software from the EU site. It appears to be a "lite" version of Picture Perfect. It does not support tiff and some small features. But it pretty much does all the important functions.
I just fixed this problem on my computer. i had acrobat reader 9.1 and i replaced it with an old version 5. i also reinstalled capture perfect 1.0, but my guess is that i could have stayed with 3.02 or whatever. it's the same issue as office 2000 can't open files created in the office 2007 version
I just had the same problem and solved it using the solution posted by skidoggeruk. I can email the correct and working version of the file to you if you are unable to extract it from the version 3.0 download. email request to [email protected] and I will reply with working version (it's very small). Then just copy the file into your install path for CapturePerfect 2 (most likely C:\Program Files\Canon Electronics\CapturePerfect 2.0)
I have two Canon DR scanners and the problem reported by you did appear in one while trying to get PDF output. The other worked smooth!. I found that the one running Captureperfect 2.1 version created PDF whereas the one with 2.311 reported the same problem. I tried couple of options, but did not work. may be you can try and locate 2.1 version and try. If you give me yr mail Id, I can send 2.1 version ([email protected])

Check to see if your program director has the paftopdf.dll file. Missing this file will cause pafcv2.dll error. If you do not have this file, you probably install the 2.311 version directly without an earlier version installed?
I finally realize why some of the people are getting "pafcv2.dll not loaded" error. This is caused by Canon USA sloppy testing and packaging of the software. For those of you downloaded from the Canon USA site, you get errors because those files were missing at the source. mohanchennai, I also get this error with a dr-5020 using 2.311 but only when I select OCR for the pdf option. Are you running OCR?
I have the same issue. It is only pertinent to PDF scanning. All other formats are fine. I will try to re-install to get the DLL re-written, maybe that will help.
