We tried to run a wash on economy setting, it runs for approx. 20 min., then the " check water" light comes on. It seems to fill up water a little and then pumps it off and fills up slightly and so on. We checked waste pipe, water pipe, and filter. Doesn't seem to have a blockage. It was suggested by a friend of ours that it might be a faulty pump... Now wondering if its worth spending 90 Pound Of getting someone to look at the dishwasher :( when we put it on reset it drains water fine. Thanks for any suggestions.
Probably jug impellor part number (424099) from espares, buyspares or bosch direct.
No fix unfortunately, this problem manifests as unit starts to fill and motor does not switch on. Eventually the unit overfills and the pump and fill start to alternate and check water light comes on. If this is the fault then this part is the solution it runs in line with the inlet valve and side fill chamber, take the left side panel off (looking from the front) it is tucked away behind the hoses bottom left (white plastic disc with two wire connection tag). Check water light can also come on if the unit is not pumping, if this is the case, repost and I will try and talk you through clearing this fault.
Cheers, we'll giveit a try and will come back to you :)
Read somewhere that someone just put hot water in the dishwasher, left it there and then put it on a normal cycle again. I thought i try that once before doing what u suggested and surprise surprise, our dishwasher works again... :) but thanks anyways, it was well described what to do.
Sounds like you had a grubby motor seal then, quite difficult to do a diagnosis without seeing the appliance. You can get that problem if you've not used the d/w for a while (ie been away on holiday etc.) gunge drys on the seal and the motor can't start up. Helpful tho for anyone else looking for solution that added the comment. If you do not use the machine for a week or so, boil a kettle, fill the sump and shut the door for a little while, this softens the seal back up. Glad you got it working again.
PS...can you have a look at this link, some of the older Bosch d/w need to have an upgrade, if you've not already had it done, you can put your full Enr and FD in the search and it will let you know if yours is one of the effected models. http://www.repairaction.co.uk/bosch
Hey there, well well, we seem to have to fill up dw always with about three liters before starting it. Cause otherwise the check water light will show up again :( Could that have to do with a faulty jug impeller? We are still thinking of giving that a go. At the moment it works however to load up dishes and then add about three liters of hot water and then it washes everything just fine. Our dishwasher is only two and a bit years old but I'll check out the link. Thanks so much! :)
The Bosch warranty is two years, if you call BSH Home Appliances Ltd and ask to speak to Customer Liason (0844 892 8979) you may be able to sweet talk them into a free engineer call. Advise them that it is only just out the guarantee period and would they as a gesture of good will send an engineer out. It's worth a punt!!! I still think that the impellor jug is the problem and I had a check myself, your model is not on the repair action list.
Well, we exchanged the impeller jug and started it twice since and it seems to work now. Thank you very much for your help! You saved us 90 pound!
Glad to be of assistance

SOURCE: drain pump running when unit starts but no water to appliance
The machine probably has water in the base (not visibly in the machine, but in the base where the conponents are). Pull the machine out, sit the front on a large towel and holding the back of the d/w pull it towards you. Any water trapped in the base will drain out. It may be a fair amount as the flood safety switch will activate on approx 1.5 ltrs. Once you've cleared the water run a prewash or quickwash to check d/w. Hope this helps.

try removing pump some models can be serviced fron inside well of machine glass can stop the pump from turning
clean out water and remove filters find a screw in base of well remove and remove pump housing check with torch to see if any obstuctions there if not see if the impellor moves around when turned and make shure that the pump is not worn out

Thanks for the input Dicky...I think my dad will be onto the place of purchase first thing tomorrow!!

If it IS the pump, it’s often because some relatively minor item (piece of cocktail stick/bit of nutshell/etc) has found its way past the filters and is blocking the blades of the pump. It is relatively simple to remove the inlet hose to the pump and clear the blockage (a pair of grips to pinch and remove the retaining clip, then the hose will slide off the fitting on the pump). I did this several times on my previous (Hotpoint) machine – and suspect it is no harder on the Bosch (which I now have). If that doesn’t work, you are half-way to replacing the pump, which is not a difficult DIY job and I’m surprised any competent professional repair man wanted to write off a machine where the pump had failed. A new pump should cost around £40-£50 – less than a quarter of the cost of a new machine. DIY fitting would maybe take a couple of hours; a pro ought to do it in less than an hour.

Hello, welcome to FixYa.
Based on your post I understand you have a Bosch SHU3307UC dishwasher, correct ? Firther to this you.ve stated "slowly fills the bottom between cycles, even with little or no activity at the sink"
It sounds to me like the fill valve is at fault unfortunately. This is a very common problem for Bosch dishwashers of that era.
A faulty fill valve...sticking in the "open" position either due to the plunger in the coil getting stuck or sediment inside the valve body impeding it from closing correctly...Either way you're safer to change it with the history of these valves failing.
This is what to look for...
As long as your model is indeed a Bosch, this info below will be accurate.
Original part is # 425458. It usually retails for about $20 - $30USD at places such as "searspartsdirect.com" "repairclinic.com" to name a couple, if needed. They may be available at your local brick & mortar parts depot/vendors.
**Before attempting to repair the unit please turn off the power and the water supply to the dishwasher...safety first**
If you remove the lower kick plate/toe panel, you will see the inlet valve to your left...
i.e.
Replacing it or to check for debris in the filter/screen at the inlet is pretty straight forward. Here`s how...
1) undo the water line. ( here you can visually inspect the screen in the valve...if nothing noted, you'll likely need to replace it as follows )
2) Remove the two #20 torx screws fastening it in place.
3) the feed tube to the machine at the back of the valve and swap it with the new one.
and
Once the new one is in or it's all clear you should be good to go.
