How do clean behind the glass on Maytag built-in oven.

Cleaning behind the glass on Maytag built in ovens.

  • chakespeare Feb 22, 2009

Actually, this is the kind of oven with the floating glass front.  I'm trying to clean in between the two floating glass pieces not the oven glass behind them.  But thanks anyway.

You should have a 2 piece glass in your oven. What has happened is that the seal that separates the 2 pieces has come apart or is broken thus allowing air and grease in. You can take apart the glass but it will only be temporary for about 2-3 months and will get dirty again. The bad thing about it is that te more you take it apart, the more the band that separates the 2 pieces becomes out of its form, the harder to put it back together. Unless you don't mind it, I would leave it alone or just replace it and be done with it. The question I have is, is the glass cracked or has the door been bent? Normally, the glass lasts for nearly the life of the oven.

How to clean my jen air built in oven

For basic cleaning, use a non-abrasive cleanser or detergent and water. Clean the oven frame, oven door outside of the gasket and the gap in the gasket. (Don't clean the gasket.) With a damp sponge (with detergent if needed), wipe up any spills in the oven. (Sugary or acidic spillovers could damage the porcelain.) Wipe up any grease that spilled in the oven. Wipe the control panel with a damp cloth then dry. Clean the oven door with detergent and water. Clean the window or glass with detergent and water or glass cleaner. Use care to keep the water from seeping behind the window.

Next if you want to do a self-cleaning cycle. Remove the oven racks, the broiler pan and any other pans or items that are in the oven. Close the oven door. Press the Clean pad and then press Autoset(0) button to get the length of time to run the cleaning cycle. Press 2 or 4 to shorten or lengthen the cleaning cycle. After 5 seconds the door will lock and the cleaning cycle will begin. The door will remain locked until after the oven cools down (at least an hour after the cycle ends). Wipe up any white ash after the oven door unlocks. If you want the cleaning cycle to be delayed, press the Stop pad within 5 seconds of setting the length of the cleaning cycle. Use the number pads to set the time that you want the oven to end the cleaning cycle. (Make sure that it is later in the day with sufficient time to run the cleaning cycle.)

Most Jenn-Air manuals are available here: http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search.jsp?siteCd=JA_EN_US . The direct link to the manual for the JJW8530CAA is http://www.kitchenaid.ca/assets/pdfs/literature/JJW8527AAB.pdf .

I hope this helps.

How do I take off the glass on my oven door to clean it?

I have a Kenmore oven and all I had to do was remove the screw at each end of the handle (accessed with the door open) and the very front section just opened up - SIMPLE!! Wiped it down put the screws back in. Did it all by myself - just have your cleaning cloth in reach before you start. Can't believe I looked at those drips for years and it was that simple!!!

I need a replacement door for a built in Baumatic 720 series oven

I have exactly the same problem and my bottom glass panel exploded. My friends did the same. You can take the inside glass panel out via the two screws and clean the inside of the outer glass once removed. Id replace all the rubber seals to as they perish, particularly the one that clips onto the oven itself that meets the door.

How can I remove oven door so that I can replace the broken glass

I just took my oven door off and took it apart to clean the glass inside. I don't have a maytag but they probably all work alike. Just open the door like you are going to broil something and just lift it up. It should slide right off. Shouldn't have to unscrew anything. Hope this helps. Arlene
