The symptoms of only pops half the popcorn is a hard one to trouble shoot.
1.Check your popcorn, old popcorn dries out. As it loses moisture its ability to pop is reduced. Popcorn only lasts about 90 days after opening the air tight packaging.
2. If it is a oil popper, make sure the stirring rod is turning during the popping cycle. They sometimes can stir, but once the popping starts the pressure of the corn can stall a motor. This results in the first half popping, and the second half burning on the bottom.
3. Popper is too cold. This has symptoms of a long, long popping cycle, and half the corn popping the other half just turning brown. Some machines had adjustable thermostats inclosed, most home units do not. Letting it pre-heat longer does not help, the temperature is controlled by a thermo-stat.

Number 2 seems to be happening to our popcorn popper. All seems to be working well, following the directions....any solution to this?

Deborah, that is also a tough questions. if your popper is a true commercial machine repairs are available. It is hard to trouble shoot with out seeing the machine, there are many things that can cause a motor to stop. If it is a home use style machine (helmans, nostalgic, or waring) there are no repairs. try lowering the amount of corn putting in to keep the motor stirring. It must stir to pop good.

Popcorn doesn't cook in my new combi oven. I'm on 1000W but the bag only half inflates after 3+ mins. Is it faulty or do I need to put the bag of popcorn on a plate? Has anyone else had this problem?

Definitely a Combi MICROWAVE oven?

Popcorn needs a certain amount of moisture in it to 'pop'. 1000 watts of microwave should work fine. Make your popcorn, put it in a bowl and eat the popped corn. Put the un-popped kernels in a pan with a little oil and see if they will pop. My theory is that the bag or the corn is old.

Make and model are always useful in such questions, then we can check specs.

May I ask how much popcorn can the Elite Epm 250 Popcorn maker can produce?

The manufacturer rates it as a 2.5 ounce kettle. This means 2.5 ounces of raw kernels each batch.
1 ounce of kernels = 1 quart of popped popcorn.
Roughly a half gallon of popcorn every 3-4 minutes.

I DO NOT HAVE COOKING INSTRUCTIONS FOR MY KPM-508 POPCORN POPPER

The instructions say make sure kettle motor is plugged in. Turn unit ON with switch on crown of machine. Allow unit to run for 3-5 minutes to heat up kettle. Turn unit off. Add 2 teaspoons of your favorite popcorn cooking oil to the kettle. Then add 1/4 cup of popcorn kernels to the kettle. Turn the unit on and close the door. When popping sound slows down turn the unit OFF. Flip the kettle over with the crank handle to empty the kettle. Repeat process until desired amount of popcorn has been popped.

Half the Kernals spit out uncooked

It coud be 2 things. Either a low grade of popping corn, or old popping corn. Hot air poppers blow the same temperature, until you shut them off. Although the better grades of popping corn cost a good amount more, you don't throw half of it away. Once the popping corn container has been opened, you should use it up within about 3 months. The internal moisture content is what determines whether corn will pop or not. Too much or too little moisture will not allow the corn to pop.

Popcorn popper motor base broken

you will need the manufacturer's name, model number of the unit and its serial number. You may contact any appliance repair shop in your area with that information and they should be able to help you. or you could go online to partstown dot com, and order the part directly.
