The webcam opens fine, and you can see the camera working, but when you click on the icon to take the picture it doesn't do anything. How do I fix this? Ive updated it and messed around a bit but I cant figure it out.
You have looked in your pictures and are none from webcam there?

Some newer cams are not compatible with Yahoo, check here to make sure yours is. If not (too new) then try a 3rd party software to run it through... I've used a free fun one called 'ManyCam' , if you run your laptop cam through that it should work on yahoo messenger.

You need other program to record video with your webcam. Try the Microsoft Vidcap.

The problem is with Camera driver.
Please uninstall the driver from Add/Remove Programmes and reinstall from media given by manufacture or download the latest driver from manufacture web site.

There should be a program in the start/programs menu called acer crystaleye, the software to take pictures with the webcam is in there. (if you are running vista that came with the laptop).

hey, I had the same problem, I've got an Acer Aspire 6920 and I swapped out Vista that was on it for Windows XP
I went to the link you posted but it just goes to acer.com
so I figured I'd try something
if you go to acer aspire 6920 drivers, you can only pick Vista and Windows 7, and not Windows XP
instead, pick 6530 drivers (older acer) and pick the Bison driver:

Install it (with or without installing the previous Crystal eye, doesn't matter, and it will work properly
Click the drop-down menu on the toolbar to change the resolution. Click the gear icon to change the settings.
Click the camera icon to capture a photo. To turn off the Acer webcam, click the "X" button on the top of the window.
