Problem formatting the disks

I have a JVC Everio camcorder and the JVC CU-VD10 external dvd burner. I have burned dvd's using the burner in the past, but have recently had a problem with the burner recognizing the DVD-rw's. It will recognize the DVD-r discs I'm using, but will not fully format the disk for burning video. No idea what's causing the problem or how to reset the whole thing if that's even an option.

Your burner has gone south. You can try a firmware upgrade to possible correct the issue but if that does not do the trick then the burner needs to be replaced.

Sounds like there last on one of the units has worn out I'm afraid. Can you not try on a different burner as if that works then at least you'll know which unit is faulty.

No Problem.....
Purchase any of these DVD-R 4X or 8X and/or also rewritable discs
DVD-RW 4X or 8X
It worked for me.

I have found that the cheapest DVD-R discs (the ONLY ones that the EVERIO accepts) are the best and I have no coasters.

Incompatible Disc Message

You need to use -R DVD disks, I used Maxell 1.4X speed disks wih no problem in a CU-VD10 berner. Hope this helps

I called customer service at JVC. First, they asked me to clean the unit with a disk cleaner. They had me look at the disks I was using. I was using DVD+R and DVD+RW. They told me only DVD-R or DVD-RW work. They were right. Hope this helps.
