1999 hyundai elantra airbag light

Depending on type of SRST, the air bag module may have detected something that in case of accident, it may prevent the airbags to deploy.
Have the car scanned for error codes. If the the warning light is ON, there sure is an error code.
Remember that some manufacturers (according to local laws), program the ECM SRST system to issue a warning at certain mileage or time, just to remind you that it is time to replace the air bag assemblies at the steering wheel and dashboard...

(Ouch... this may be expensive!)

Airbag light

I also have a 2001 Hyundai Elantra.
Awhile back (about 3 years ago maybe) I got a recall letter in the mail saying there was a problem with the airbag if any liquid was spilled in the area around the e-brake. I never did go in and get it fixed. then last year after spilling coffe all over the ebrake handle my airbag light came on. Not sure if it means it is defective or it just need to be checked.

My 2007 Elantra's airbag light stays on. The dealers says it's not part of the recall. How do I know that is correct?

Whether it is covered or not goes By the fault code that is present whenever the SRS system warning light is turned on. Airbags save lives, fix it and fight over who pays later. Keep the all the paper work and appeal to Hyundai to help pay the bill to fix it.

Sir my car engine start after daseboard airbag light on wthat problem?

Occasionally this will reset ghost codes. May or may not help, can't hurt. If not, you could try Autozone and see if they can extract the fault code.

I don't know how many models were affected, but owners of original 2001 Elantras are receiving silent recall notices for airbag rewiring underneath the passenger and driver's seat (controlling the side airbags). The reason being anything that is left under the seat can knock the connection loose. I had this happen several years ago and the dealer simply reconnected it. Then last Fall I received a notice stating they are installing a new wiring harness or some such thing to prevent this problem, which evidently has been common. Don't try to repair an airbag light problem yourself. Call Hyundai USA or your dealer and ask if this problem might apply.

2001 hyndia alantra gls airbag light stays on whats the promblem and where do i locate it

Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) is PROPRIETARY to Hyundai vehicles. There's NO WAY to KNOW what the problem is until you have the system PROPERLY diagnosed by a QUALIFIED technician.... sorry --- that's the jist/gist of it.

01 Hyundai Elantra - Cruise Control Doesn't Work w/ Headlights On

I had same problem (cruise control/dashboard lights) for the past month with my 2000 Elantra. Replace the tail lights bulbs - my problem was caused by a problem with the double filament within the bulb. Essententially, there was a short when I turned on the lights or hit the brakes.

I did this last night and everything is working properly now.

2002 Hyundai Elantra, airbag warning light stays on

Airbags can be as dangerous and deadly, as easily as they can save a life. The airbag warning light is telling you that your vehicle has no airbags at this time.

If you don't understand the total airbag system, it's best left to a professional. It's worth the expense to have operable airbags, rather than chance a collision without operable airbags. My suggestion to you is to let the dealer fix your system so it is guaranteed.

Air bag light stays on

If your airbag light comes on it means its not working. Some of the newer airbag systems have weight sensors under the seats and anything lodged under them can disable the passenger airbag and possibly cause the light to go on. If there are no other symptoms, and nothing impeding the airbags then the car thinks the airbag wont work. If you are concerned for your son's safety, take it to a qualified mechanic and have them check/replace your airbag. Good Luck!
