Sound has stopped working on sony laptop

Volume up full but no sound

    my sound stops working at random times... I have to shut my laptop and re-open it to get the sound to start working. then if i watch a Youtube video, for example, the sound will stop working immediately after watching. I have all up to date downloads.

Have you checked device manager to update driver
in control panel sound / audio check to make sure all settings are correct and under audio make sure default settings are correct

your sound card may need replaced
have you made any system changes

    I have this same problem, I have to put media player on repeat and mute it because if sound stops for any amount of time i have to open and close it again to get it back

on your key pad there are also volume controls they will be the fn keys hold down the fn key and press the fn key with the little speaker on it

No Sound on Sony VAIO Laptop
Go to Start, Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices. Mute should not be checked. Go to the Sounds tab, slect Critcal Stop in the lower window. The line below that should show a wave file and in the middle a dark arrow. Click on the arrow. Sound? If none go to the Audio tab. The Sound playback and recording devices should the same and the default device may or may not be the same. Click Volume. No mutes selected and all sliders to the top. If none of this works then the operatings system has missing drivers and needs to be reinstalled and/or repaired.
