Trying to upgrade my Mum's router from a zoom usb adsl router to a belkin f5d8636 wireless connection but although I can get the new router to connect to the ISP when the router is wired to the PC as soon as the ethernet cable is disconnected the adsl connection drops off.
It's a new HP PC on Vista Home Premium which I can't get to connect to the ZOOM router either (although it will work on the old PC) but as above the Belkin router with the ne PC will connect but not wirelessly.
I'm afraid my computing ability/knowledge is limited so any (straight-forward) advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Managed to get the Belkin set up and running - set it up by hard wiring to my laptop and was able to get the PC hooked up wirelessly after that. Problem now is that ADSL connection occassionaly drops offf when I disconnect the ethernet cable from the laptop or if the Belkin is switched off it won't reconnect when powered back up. On checking, the Internet Settings come up with NULL until i connect it back up to the laptop again? I've tried saving the setings etc but the Belkin won't accept the file when I try to restore those settings - just comes up with an error message saying I need to tell it where to find the file or to Browse for it?!
Guess it will be OK if i leave the router on permanently (assuming we never get a power cut) but is there a way to save the Internet Settings to the router - have tried the on-line tutorials but as soon as the router is powered off the settings are lost again!
